Both Joseph Wilson -- the former diplomat whose wife was outed as a CIA agent by White House officials -- and Congresswoman Heather Wilson served in the first President Bush's administration.
Heather Wilson was director for European Defense Policy and Arms Control in the National Security Council while Joseph Wilson -- no relation -- was the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, under George H.W. Bush.
However, Joseph Wilson was in the state this week to campaign for Heather Wilson's re-election opponent, Democrat Patricia Madrid.
"I can only conclude that Heather Wilson essentially sacrificed all her experience, all her relationships, on the altar of Tom DeLay," Wilson said in a Thursday interview.
"She sits on (the) Intelligence Committee and was privy to the extent that the intelligence didn't merit going to war," Joseph Wilson said. "And yet she stood by and watched as her fellow erstwhile Air Force colleagues were sent out to kill and die in the name of the American people in a military action that was the antithesis of the way that we conducted the first Gulf War."
