Tina Priest's Death In Iraq Under Investigation
Mar 4, 2006

(CBS 42) SMITHVILLE A Central Texas family is coping with the death of a soldier killed in Iraq.

The Army said Private First Class Tina Marie Priest of Smithville died from non-combat-related injuries.

<snip>

Family members told CBS 42’s Gregg Watson that they are having a hard time believing that Priest did not die in combat.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Priest died Wednesday of injuries not related to war. Her family’s not so sure.

<snip>

Family members said they had heard that Priest died from a gunshot wound to the chest. The Army is investigating.

Sounds like someone deliberately shot this girl in the chest and it wasn't the enemy. What a mess.

4. A female soldier from St. Louis died...
last year and the Army claimed it was suicide but her father, who is a doctor, has suspicions. He said she looked like she had been assaulted.

Now they're going to re-investigate Tillman's death in Afghanistan. :shrug:

What a mess!

5. I heard sometime ago
that the female soldiers were dying of dehydration, trying ot to drink anything after 6pm so they wouldn't have to get up to use the latrines. They were afraid of rape and assaults by our soldiers. Who knows how many soldiers have been killed so they wouldn't talk about things that have gone on over there. Let alone the number of reporters. Off the subject sometimes I wonder about the three helicopters that were shot down trying to leave the Baghdad airport just after shock and awe was over. Three helicopters full of guys. I wonder who they were and what they knew and if it was really enemy fire.

6. I saw information, also, on the reality female soldiers had learned
if they had to leave their quarters to go out to the bathroom, they stood a very good chance of being assaulted, and started avoiding liquids so they wouldn't have to use those facilities after dark.

What a goddamned shame. It's also obvious they felt there was no one who would help them, to whom they could turn for help.

How COULD things get this bad? Doesn't say a lot for the Defense Department.
