Bolton warns Iran of "painful consequences"
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 03:35 PM by Loge23
Top U.S. official Psycho John Bolton has loaded up the Steath bombers over Iran.
According to MSNBC story, ( http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11684031/) Bolton chose to issue the latest threat on Sunday pandering to a convention of Jewish-Americans.
(Edited to "conform to LBN standards") ??!

3. "tangible and painful consequences" to Iran, says Bolton.
...Iran faces “tangible and painful consequences” if it continues its nuclear activities and the United States will use “all tools at our disposal” to stop this threat...

5. From the article...

The United States has had sweeping sanctions on Iran since after the 1979 Iranian revolution but is looking at ways to further use its Proliferation Security Initiative to deny Iran materials it needs for its nuclear program, he said.

Bolton reaffirmed that the United States does not see the security council moving quickly to impose sanctions on Iran, but he pointedly noted that “many other governments have begun to include the word sanctions in their discourse on Iran,” implying they may take action outside the security council.

Did our recent deal with India fall within the framework of the Proliferation Security Initiative?

Sounds like another coalition of the coerced. How very Iraq like.

6. Same song, second verse.....
Sound familiar?

"The longer we wait to confront the threat Iran poses, the harder and more intractable it will become to solve,” Bolton warned.

“The Iran regime must be made aware that if it continues down the path of international isolation, there will be tangible and painful consequences,” he told 4,500 delegates to the annual convention of the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, the leading pro-Israel U.S. lobbying group.

Keep in mind AIPAC owns our asses in the Admin.

To provoke Iran into attacking a US ship or base in the region, sustaining high losses, so he can regalvanize the public into supporting more war?

12. Rep. Murtha's response this bullshit today...
<snip>

The United Nations is scrutinizing Iran because of its nuclear research but Murtha said Tehran has become emboldened because of the U.S. focus in Iraq.

"We have a situation where our military is in such bad shape, it couldn't deploy to a second front," Murtha said. "And the Iranians know this. North Korea knows it. China knows it. We're depleting our resources in Iraq."

15. I wonder if AIPAC will take the same tired old bait again...
Considering how dangerous a radical Islamic state in Iraq is to Israel, will the Israel lobby in America be fooled again by neocon snake oil?

An attack on Iran will unleash forces that no one will be able to control. For those of us that want the US out of the Middle East altogether, there is no point in wasting our time warning people about the folly of a second concurrent war in the Persian Gulf. Let the fools self-destruct!

17. deja vu all over again
We can begin to capture all of the cautionary statements for the historical record if nothing else. This is sounding an awful lot like those halycon last days of Saddam's regime in Iraq. Like the vortex of water down the drain, we swirl hopelessly into the abyss of yet another deluge.
I found this thread detailing Helen Thomas' little chat with Ari Fleisher trying to nail down the great lie about Iraq.

So what is it this time? "Precision bombing"? "Strategic targets"?

18. I doubt that a threat from these jokers inspires much fear
There is no way we go to war with Iran. We're bogged down in Iraq and Iran actually has a real fucking military. It would probably require at least 500,000 soldiers for that war, and we just don't have that available.

But, our threats for diplomatic action must ring pretty hollow as well. Although the EU is just as eager as the U.S. to keep Iran from being a nuclear power, they hardly trust the Bush Administration enough to work with them on diplomatic sanctions.

your Admins's failure to prepare for or handle 9/11 helped you be prepared to prevent a failure to catch OBL at Tora Bora,
which taught you so much on how to handle the aftermath of an illegal invasion of Iraq'
which taught you something about leadership in your prep for Hurricane Katrina and for dealing with it's aftermath,
which taught you the style with which you would handle the palistinian authority elections
and now your gonna bring that track record to dealing with a nation of 80 million who handle much of your China's oil
can't wait.
