Zogby Poll - Bush Job Approval 38%
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 01:14 PM by Mark E. Smith
Zogby America telephone Poll shows slight drop from 40% last month; Congressional Democrats lead over Republican counterparts.

President Bush's job approval rating dipped slightly to 38% in the latest Zogby America telephone poll, conducted Feb 27 to march 2, marking a small drop from 40% in a similar poll 2 weeks ago.

The survey also shows Democrats holding on to a six-point - 38% to 32% - advantage over republicans in a generic measurement of which party is favored heading into this year's midterm congressional elections. 28% said they were unsure.

Bush continues to show weakness among his political base, as more than one in four Republicans - 28% - give him poor marks for his performance. Among rural voters - another stronghold for the second-term Texan - 44% approve of his work leading the nation, while 42% of suburban voters and 45% of married voters said he is doing a good job. Among conservatives 60% give him positive marks.

Just 27% of moderates give him a positive rating.

Among those who live in "Republican Red" states won by Bush in the 2004 presidential election, 43% hold a positive view of his job performance, compared to 30% of those in "Democratic Blue" states.

2. This is great news...
...but it would've been better 16 months ago. Let's just hope that Democratic candidates for Congress this year can turn these failing numbers into victory.

3. That's all?!?!? A six point advantage? Seems like our Dem leaders
aren't doing their jobs. It is ridiculous that with all the idiocy and overt corruption of the Bush regime that all the Dems could get is a 6 point advantage.
Maybe if there were a clear message that Dems are demanding a total and complete withdrawal from Vie... i mean Iraq, maybe people would appreciate that there is a difference.

Instead, people are getting different messages, from repubs and dems alike, about "when the job will be finished" and "benchmarks for success" and other crapola.

7. Really. 27% undecided and basically 4 out of 10 still think Shrub
is doing a good job?

I know, Shrub numbers are down and we should be celebrating - but damn, not when you look at the whole thing.

Either people in this country are the stupidest on earth (which I don't believe) or our leaders just aren't leading. They're being wishy washy - awaiting the latest polls to tell them which way the wind blows.

Every election cycle since Clinton I keep hearing about this or that candidate's "handlers". I don't want someone who needs "handlers" - I want a leader, who steps up with a vision - communicates that vision in an inspiring way and motivates the majority to follow him/her.
