Cheney- Iran faces consequences in nuclear dispute
Tue Mar 7, 2006 5:26 PM GMT
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons and Tehran faces "meaningful consequences" if it persists in defying the international community, Vice President Dick Cheney said on Tuesday.

Cheney, speaking to the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC, also reaffirmed that the United States was keeping all options on the table in its determination to prevent Iran from developing nuclear arms.

"The Iranian regime needs to know that if it stays on its present course the international community is prepared to impose meaningful consequences," Cheney said.

Cheney spoke as the 35-nation International Atomic Energy Agency governing board was meeting in Vienna to decide its next steps on Iran and as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks on the issue with U.S. leaders in Washington.

"For our part, the United States is keeping all options on the table. ... We will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon," Cheney said.

Senior U.S. officials have repeatedly refused to rule out the use of force, saying "all options are on the table."

is to provoke nuclear strikes against the mainland United States.

And these creeps are so treasonous that that may well be their ultimate goal.

I realize that everything they do sets up a future payoff.
Cheney's group selling Iran nuclear technology, knowing that it
would create a bigger payoff in the future. Same thing happened with Iraq
and now India.
We need to figure out how to stop these war for profit mongers.
I for one don't want to live the rest of my life under this
regime.

8. They are pushing this Iran stuff just like Iraq was a smashing success
Daryn Kagan was positively salivating about the possiblility Iran might need to be invaded because of their "nuclear threat". How they are a nuclear threat when they have no nukes, well, I guess we're not supposed to think about that.

She was interviewing some "MIT Expert" who was saying how the IEAE is a great organization and if they inspect Iran they will be able to tell us if Iran is trying to build nukes and we can trust the IEAE.

Funny, isn't this the same IEAE that we couldn't trust when they said Iraq didn't have any WMD and we couldn't wait for them to finish their inspections because they were such keystone cops?

I seriously think I'm going to have to get the part of my brain that houses intelligence removed to continue living in this stunningly stupid country.

They'd be crazy to take on Iran after the Iraq debacle but that won't stop the huffing and puffing and bluffing. This may lead to Iraq style sanctions, starving people and keeping medicines from children, for the next 10 years. We may find out just how crazed they are.

26. AP: Cheney Says U.S. Won't Let Iran Get Nukes
WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney said Tuesday that Iran will not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon and warned "the United States is keeping all options on the table in addressing the irresponsible conduct of the regime."

Cheney said the Iranian government "continues to defy the world with its nuclear ambitions" and that the issue may soon go before the U.N. Security Council.

"The Iranian regime needs to know that if it stays on its present course, the international community is prepared to impose meaningful consequences," Cheney said in a speech to the to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, an influential pro-Israel lobbying group.

Cheney spoke as diplomats at an International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria, were considering whether to refer Iran to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions. The United States believes Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons; Iran says its nuclear program is for generating electricity.

29. Clinton pressured them to talk tough

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/19/AR2006011903220.html

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) accused the Bush administration of playing down the threat of a nuclear Iran and called for swift action at the United Nations to impose sanctions on the Iranian government.

The senator's statements, in which she said the administration should make it clear that all options remain on the table for dealing with the Iranians, came during a speech about the Middle East on Wednesday night at Princeton University. She criticized the White House for turning the problem over to European nations and said Iran must never be permitted to acquire nuclear weapons.

31. U.S. Says Iranian Enrichment Unacceptable
U.S. Says Iranian Enrichment Unacceptable
Mar 7, 5:31 PM (ET)

By ANNE GEARAN

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Bush administration drew a hard line on Iran Tuesday, warning of "meaningful consequences" if the Islamic government does not back away from an international confrontation over its disputed nuclear program.

Edging toward the U.N. Security Council review it has long sought, Washington rejected any potential 11th hour compromise that would allow Iran to process nuclear fuel that could be used for weapons.

Vice President Dick Cheney said the United States and other nations are agreed that "we will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon." He said, "The Iranian regime needs to know that if it stays on its present course, the international community is prepared to impose meaningful consequences."

Speaking to the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC, Cheney did not specify what the U.S. would do but said it "is keeping all options on the table." American officials have said the government has no plans for military force but will not rule it out.

43. But they're not as good
In 2002, they had an organized PR army to beat the war drums: the NY Times, Rice, Powell, the WHIG group, etc. Now they're down to Bolton & Cheney. The newspapers have largely turned on them, as has the public. They've lost the more credible members of the Admin. Bolton & Cheney are basically jokes to most people. After Iraq, they've lost the benefit of the doubt completely, & I doubt they'll be able to convince the majority of the public to support a war w/Iran. It just seems like there isn't anywhere near the propaganda blast we saw in 2002.

41. Fight the real enemy!
:hi:

Until the philosophy,
Which holds one race superior
And another inferior,
Is finally and permanently
Discredited and abandoned,
Everywhere is war.

WAR

Until there is no longer first class
Or second class citizens of any nation.
Until the color of a man's skin,
Is of no more significance than
The color of his eyes,
I've got to say "war".

WAR

That until the basic human rights,
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race,
I'll say "war"

Until that day the dream of lasting peace,
World-citizenship and the rule of
International morality will remain
Just a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never obtained.
And everywhere is war.

Until the ignoble and unhappy regime
Which holds all of us through,
Child-abuse, yeah, child-abuse yeah,
Sub-human bondage has been toppled,
Utterly destroyed,
Everywhere is war.

War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south,
There is war,
And the rumors of war.

Until that day,
the african continent will know no peace
There is no continent,
Which will know peace.

Children, children.

Fight!

We find it necessary.
We know we will win.
We have confidence in the victory
Of good over evil
Of good over evil

Fight the real enemy!

36. Cheney today, and Bolton yesterday, warmongering to AIPAC pukes
None of the AIPAC pukes will volunteer their children to die in the Oil Wars, but it is okay for the children of lower income families to be the ones to die for people that wear fancy jewelry and fur coats.

For those that defend AIPAC consider this: what do you think will happen to all of us Jews after the people responsible for this war are finally held accountable? If you think that the WASP elites are going to be held accountable, forget it! It will be us instead, and it won't matter whether we supported the war or opposed it, to "them" we all look the same.

We will be the scapegoats!
