Russia-Iran plan 'blocked by U.S.'
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/03/07/iran.nuclear.1246/

VIENNA, Austria (CNN) -- A Russian proposal to allow Iran to enrich a small amount of uranium on its soil has been shot down by U.S. officials, diplomats close to the International Atomic Energy Agency told CNN.

The proposal was floated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is in Washington and is scheduled to meet with U.S. President George W. Bush at the White House later Tuesday.

After a meeting with his Canadian counterpart in Ottawa on Monday, Lavrov said a uranium enrichment joint venture between Iran and Russia was still on the table, but would require Tehran returning to a moratorium of its own testing, the Russian news agency Interfax reported.

Moscow has offered to enrich uranium for Tehran in Russia and then ship it to Iran.

"A set of measures should be taken," Lavrov said. "The joint venture will guarantee that all of the needs of Iran's peaceful nuclear sector will be met."

3. Bush wants war so we have to scuttle every effort to avoid war.
Neo-cons love war, they just don't believe putting their ass where their policies are.

11. It really does boggle one's mind....
The bush cabal shoots down any attempt to reach a diplomatic solution to Iran and has no problem in pissing off the Russians in doing that yet, in the bush cabal's alternate reality, they don't seem to realize that any attempt to bring their war talk to the Security Council via a resolution will be vetoed by Russia and quite likely by China as well.

13. Well, we already know how much the USA pays attention to the UN
.
.
.

If the USA likes decisions of the UN, fine.

If the USA doesn't like decisions of the UN, the USA will do whatever the USA feels like doing.

Dat's it in a nutshell methinks . . . .

(sigh)

14. The only quibble I might have re your post is....
the bush cabal never likes the decisions of the UN, in fact, they count on the UN not supporting their war-mongering crap so they can say, as they did re Iraq, they tried the UN, the last diplomatic resort, before attacking Iran.

If the bush cabal didn't detest the UN they would not have sent the most detestable creature, bolton, to represent them.

22. Not really. PNAC will be fulfilled no matter what the cost.
The BushCO/neoconster regime have complete faith in our military superiority,...so much so that inflaming a world war is no big deal 'cause "we will be victorious"!!!

19. Their answer will be "Feckin' right Roh Roh Roh!!!"
.
.
.

Clear half of the USA's prime real estate of them low-life workers, and the Robber Barons can start all over again (not that they ever really quit)

When it starts, the USA will be just pounding all their most unfavorite nations with them thousands of nukes they got

And the PNACers get the USA taxpayers all excited because countries like Korea or Iran might have, or be trying to make a FEW??

gimme a break

and they'll probably drop a couple on Canada while their at it (OOPS - that's just collateral damage, friendly fire ya know) say they are sorry, and demote the guy that bombed us - maybe a fine to boot!

But they'll help us "rebuild" and suck the gas, oil and water out of us while they are at it. . .

Yeah - I really don't trust our southern neighbor's government one weenie bit . . . .

20. As well you shouldn't, I live here and don't trust them in the least.
Just take a look at our military - the Pentagon just assumes Canada will let NORTHCOM defend Canadian airspace (from who I dunno). As if Canada needs the help, they don't make enemies like the US! IMO, this just shows a clear lack of respect for neigboring countries...I mean...if we can't get along with you guys then there really is something wrong with America!

21. ***PETITION TO SIGN: NO WAR WITH IRAN ***
Hello,

For the past year, the growing tensions mounting between the US, Israel, and Iran are reaching a point where military action against Iran is w/in months of becoming reality. The repercussions are terrifying as such military action could involve countries such as China and Russia as they share massive energy/economic interests w/ Iran. The most likely scenario we would face would be the collapse of the US economy as the combination of a massive rise in oil prices and a run on the US dollar would surely be the weapon many countries would use to fight back against a preemptive US or Israeli strike.

For a collection of articles and resources on this subject you can visit this link: http://reseaudesign.com/research/iran/iran_summery.html

I'm starting up a petition which I will be sending out to as many members of Congress as possible. I'm asking for help to get this signed by as many people, possible in the next month. Send it to as many people you can.

http://www.petitiononline.com/n0war1rn/

Also, here is another petition you can sign from another group:
http://stopwaroniran.org/statement.shtml

Thanks for your time
