Bush position on Dubai ports unchanged-White House

NEW ORLEANS, March 8 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush's position is unchanged on his threat to veto any legislation to block the Dubai ports deal, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said on Wednesday.

"The president's position has not changed," McClellan told reporters traveling with Bush to the Gulf Coast region hit by Hurricane Katrina. "We continue to work closely with Congress. The lines of communication are open."

...short blurb...

It's a shame that those lines only go one way.

3. Reflecting their constituents' views
``This has become a very hot political potato,'' House Majority
Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said. ``I have seen it in my
district. I have seen it every place I have been.''

So, instead of backing Bush on the DP World takeover, House
Republicans are largely reflecting their constituents' views and
distancing themselves from a president's whose popularity has declined.

Bush's approval rating has dropped significantly, to 34 percent in
one poll, near the lowest levels of his presidency.

7. Bigger news would be if he EVER changed his mind
and admitted it.

Let's face it, once his mind is made up (or is made up for him), it is literally set in
concrete.
