Even in ’84, Schmidt spoke her mind (Young Repubs=Young Hitlers)
As a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1984, Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) expressed her contempt for a future colleague and allegedly likened young Republican activists to Hitler, according to an interview published by the local paper at the time.

While shadowing Schmidt at the convention, The Cincinnati Enquirer reporter initially described Schmidt as a “woman who will speak her mind whenever she pleases.”

(snip)

“I hate that woman (Elizabeth Dole),” she told the reporter. “I just can’t stand her. Anyone who wants to force an increase in the drinking age to 21. … She can send our boys off to fight wars when they’re 17 and 18 but won’t let them drink till they’re 21.”

She added, “That stinks.”

The article also details her “booing” during a Dole appearance at the convention.

1. Anyone who doesn't like Elizabeth Dole can't be all bad.
Close; but not all.

2. Ack!
I just posted today that I can't stand Elizabeth Dole. Does this mean I'll end up like Jean Schmidt? :scared:

WTF? That sounds sensible.

She was sensible. Now, she is barking mad.

5. Try asking her that same question today
And she how she'll respond. BTW, did you know that the federal government cannot regulate things like the age of alcohol consumption? Dole came up with a manipulative plan where by each state would agree to raise the age to 21, and if they didn't they would lose billions in federal highway funding. It's a carrot and stick provision because it would be unconsitutional if the federal government unilaterally decided to make a standard national drinking age.

10. So you think 18 is old enough to make serious decisions like who to vote
for and to enlist in the military but not old enough to be able to drink alcohol? If I'm reading that right, please help me with the logic on this.

8. Mean Jean had to remove False Endorsements from her Website! Ha!
"On Tuesday, Schmidt removed a claim on her website that Reps. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) and Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) had endorsed her in the Republican primary this year after Tancredo and Chabot’s office said it was not true."

That is just so typical, and straight out of the Republican playbook. Who would notice? They from almost an entire continent away? Oh, whoops...
