Woman sues for alleged firing over talk show bumper sticker
Woman sues for alleged firing over talk show bumper sticker

By: TERI FIGUEROA - Staff Writer

VISTA ---- A San Diego County woman is suing her former employer, accusing her manager of firing her on the spot when she saw the woman's car had a bumper sticker advertising a progressive talk radio station.

The suit also alleges that, after seeing the sticker, the employer commented that the woman could be a member of al-Qaida.

Laroca, who was hired by the company as a sales representative, is seeking lost wages and damages for wrongful termination for violations of both public policy and the state labor code. She is also claiming state constitutional violations and emotional distress.

The California labor code prohibits employers from controlling or directing the political activities of employees. According to Laroca's suit, the bumper sticker in question read only: "1360 Air America Progressive Talk Radio."

1. Ed Schulz was trying to get Ms Laroca on his show
but I had to leave and go to the doctor's office, so I don't know if she ever got on his show. Does anyone here know if she did?

6. it might compromise her case if she did
If I were her, I'd keep as far away from appearances on shows carried by KLSD as possible until after the jury returns.

2. I hope she wins the legal lottery
and gets to retire, drive a big, fancy car, wear mink, and generally lord it over the asshole who not only fired her, but was abusive to boot.

I hope the asshole spends time on the unemployment line with a dead end service job at the end of it.

7. Funny
You never hear about people with Shrub/Crashcart stickers getting shitcanned by Liberal bosses do you? It's always some regressive neandrethal that can't stand the idea that someone he pays may not tow the company line.

9. Thank heaven she's in CA
Many, many other states have NO such law offering any sort of protection other than the Civil Rights laws barring termination for race, religion, sex, etc. Most states have employment "at will" whoch means you can be fired for any reason whatsoever.
