Slobodan Milosevic Dies in the Hague Prison

Belgrade. Former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic has died in in the UN war crimes tribunal's detention center in the Hague, Radio B92 reported Saturday, cited by AFP.
"It is true," a source close to the government in Belgrade told AFP, when asked to confirm the report.
The source, who requested anonymity, refused to elaborate further.

Milosevic was standing trial at the Hague-based UN war crimes court on more than 60 counts including genocide and crimes against humanity for his role in the Balkan wars, including the 1995 massacre of 8,000 Muslims at Srebrenica.

There should be a special tribunal for war crimes in Iraq and crimes against humanity arising out of the so-called war on terror.

I pledge to do nothing to shield the suspects from apprehension. Let Interpol go to the White House.

We should apologize to no one for demanding that war criminals be impeached and indicted.

This is a free speech zone . . . .

21. CNN is too into itself
It always irritates me when the anchors banter with each other to no end. I really don't care how the hosts' weekends were, or who is hosting next. CNN tries way too hard to be personality-driven, when that's not why people are tuning in. Just give me the news, dammit!

Expect an even longer trial. Bush faces hundreds of counts including torture and crimes against humanity for his role in the "war against terrorism" and in Iraq, that led to the death of at least a hundred thousand people.

11. Slobodan Milosevic was being tried for war crimes
His defense was that he was only protecting his county against terrorism. Our prez is saying the same thing.

I say, there is now more room at the Hague, ship all the neocons to the Hague to be tried for war crimes.

I don't think most people understand the destruction that would follow an attack on Iran. The crazy Likudites with their Arrow ABMs, the least. GOOGLE "Israel Arrow Stategy".

Even if the Arrow 2 system is 90% accurate, Iranian chem and bio warheads can still cause significant casualties inside Israel. The Israelis would nuke Iran. That would lead to a general Middle East War. No winners - I doubt if even Halliburton would be able to sucessfully capitalize after a genocidal war of unrelenting reprisals with dirty bombs and terrorist attacks.

Look at New Orleans. Nobody's rebuilt it. Think of 100 cities in ruins and global martial law.

77. Slobodan Milosevic was an opportunistic thug
but his original crime in the eyes of the west was trying to prevent Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzgovenia from leaving the Yugoslav federation. Indeed so enthusiastic have his opponents been in dismembering that particular 'Union' that they went one stage further and prised away the province of Kosovo that historically had always been a part of Serbia. Of course, once you get into the habit of thinking that you are entitled to make and break sovereign states it is kind of hard to kick so you then have to find new areas where you can indulge your vices such as Georgia, the Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran etc.
