Sadr city morning after attacks (Six Car Bombs Sunday)

Mar. 13 - Morning scene after bombs ripped through Baghdad's Sadr City, killing 46.

Up to six car bombs ripped through the east Baghdad stronghold of a major Shi'ite militia force on Sunday (March 12), killing 46 people and wounding 204, raising fears reprisals could again pitch Iraq toward civil war.

The apparently co-ordinated attacks on markets in Sadr City occurred as political leaders, shepherded by the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, met once more without obvious result to discuss forming a national unity government that might avert a bloodbath.

The attackers struck at the peak shopping time, destroying dozens of market stalls and vehicles as the explosives ripped through the poor neighbourhood as residents were buying food for their evening meals

The neighbourhood was quickly sealed off by the Mahdi Army, a Shi'ite militia of radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr amid pandemonium as residents searched wildly for survivors and put charred corpses into ambulances and trucks to be taken away.

3. I think that Sadr figured out the US is playing games to bring

a Civil War on (US exit plan). That is why they (all Iraq leaders are not calling for retaliation, which revenge killing is the way in so many co's (not just Persian, Arab, but so called Christian Bosnia and Croatia)), they get the US policy game. Oh, poor Dumsfield, you thought you were so brilliant.

In any case, it's more pointless bloodshed. The invasion was an act of insanity.

There is no sense in which Iraq is a sovereign nation. The alleged national government is lead around like school kids on a rope by our ambassador. In a security crisis a militia seals off 'their' neighborhood. When can go home now, there is nothing left to break.
