Pacifists say documents prove FBI spied on them(Thomas Merton Ctr)
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06073/670189.stm

The Thomas Merton Center and representatives from the American Civil Liberties Union released documents today that they say prove that the FBI was spying on peace activists in Pittsburgh.

During a news conference, the two organizations released 11 pages of documents that they received as a result of a federal Freedom of Information Act request they filed with the FBI in May 2005.

In one document, dated Nov. 29, 2002, there is a summary of the Thomas Merton Center activities.

Under "synopsis," a special agent whose name was removed wrote that: "The Thomas Merton Center ... is a left-wing organization advocating, among many political causes, pacifism."

3. FBI spied on Pittsburgh pacifists, papers show
PITTSBURGH (Reuters) - FBI anti-terrorism agents spied on a peace group simply because it opposed the
Iraq war, part of an "unprecedented campaign" to spy on innocent citizens, the American Civil Liberties Union said on Tuesday.

FBI documents acquired under the Freedom of Information Act and provided to reporters show the FBI conducted surveillance of the Pittsburgh-based Thomas Merton Center for Peace & Justice at anti-war demonstrations and leaflet distributions in 2002 and 2003.

One of the FBI documents, unveiled at a news conference by the two groups, carried the headline "International Terrorism Matters" and referred to the FBI's work with an anti-terrorism task force that includes several agencies.

Another FBI document said the Pittsburgh Joint Terrorism Task Force had learned that "The Thomas Merton Center ... has been determined to be an organization which is opposed to the United States' war with Iraq."

11. My daughter
got a call from the Army recruiter.
What's wrong with this picture?
Daughter is 21, long out of high school.
The call was to a cell phone number less than 1 year old, which she gives to no one.
The recuiter knew.
She was in college.
And what college.
In 24 hours and several four letter word laden e-mails later I had the recruiters name.
She is off the list.
I am most likely on the list. Not a problem, I had my life......

and sent to trial.

How many laws did they break? Some Feds are acting more and more like they are in the KGB. In a very short period of time I expect detention and the pre-req torture that goes with it to be the standard for pacifists.
