More signs of disarray in Harris campaign
March 15, 2006

Even as word spread that Katherine Harris was about to pump millions of her own money into her U.S. Senate campaign, evidence of disarray mounted.

Plans for a "major campaign announcement" today were suddenly scrapped as Harris reportedly decided to announce her plans on national TV rather than face questions from Florida reporters.

And late Tuesday came reports that one of Harris' top advisers, pollster Ed Goeas, was the latest to quit her campaign.

Former Pinellas Republican chairman Paul Bedinghaus said he understood from the Harris campaign that she planned to announce she would put as much as $5-million of her own money into the campaign.

Come on Kathy, stay in the race. Spend some more of your own money. We know you've got plenty that you inherited from your rich grandpa. Don't give up now, we need you out there making a fool of yourself for the GOP. Go Kathy go.

1. Who else wants to send her some supportive Email?
Spend 5 million of her own money?
I say we encourage that idea!

6. Florida is really a blue state
Just because the repugs stole the last 3 elections does not a red state make.

In answer to your question, she's doing terrible. Bill Nelson has raised $8 million compared to the $1 million Kathy has come up with and her poll numbers are in the sewer.

5. Geesh.
Is this the weirdest campaign ever, or what?

Sure is keeping her name front and center though.
Shunned - endorsed - shunned - endorsed -
Not running - running - now? who knows.
New staff - newer staff - newest staff.

She's definitely got the $$ to spend-

>> Harris was worth about $7-million in 2001, according to state financial records. Three years later, Harris was worth $10-million to $39-million, according to her federal financial disclosure reports, which allow her to report ranges rather than specific figures.

The increase came after her grandfather died in 1990. Harris sold her family stock, worth between $5-million and $25-million, after a five-year battle among Griffin's heirs, including Harris' mother, Harriet, after his death. The five children divided the multimillion dollar estate.

These figures do not include money she inherited when her father, George Harris, died in January. His assets were reported to be more than $750-million.<<

Did I miss what happened with the investigation into her dealings with MZM? or is that still ongoing?

11. I think I'll email that suggestion to her
And she is stupid enough to take the advice. And the shurb would be happy that SOMEONE wants him to campaign for them.

13. I agree with getting Bush down there to campaign for her
Perhaps he could endorse her during a press conference. He DOES owe her, big time. Now's the time to put the screws to him for pay back. I say let her spend tons of her own money on her failing campaign, a complete waste, but it couldn't happen to a more qualified bitch.

I hope everything she does from this point forward turns to shit because of what she did to the people of the United States of America. She should lower her head in shame when she's in public.

And she STILL looks like a cheap HOOKER!

15. related: Pressure rises for Harris to quit
http://www.news-press.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006603150422

WASHINGTON — Florida Republican insiders are split over whether Republican Rep. Katherine Harris will bow out of the race to unseat incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

Harris, of Longboat Key, is expected to make what her office described as a "major announcement" this week, possibly as soon as today.

Given the apparent disarray of Harris' campaign, some Sunshine State GOP faithful expect her to call it quits.

"On the good-news side, if she gets out, you remove a relatively weak, controversial candidate from the ticket," said J.M. "Mac" Stipanovich, a veteran Florida Republican strategist. "The bad news is, we're in the middle of March."

<snip>

This month, an unfolding congressional bribery scandal engulfed Harris when it was revealed she requested $10 million to fund a project in Sarasota proposed by a defense contractor who had given her House campaign a reported $32,000 in illegal campaign contributions.

For the past two weeks, Harris avoided interviews on the subject and instead issued statements declaring she was unaware the contributions from Mitchell Wade and his company, MZM, were illegal.

Go on; sign up today! Show her your support! If she sees a sudden influx of interest in her candidacy, maybe she'll stay in longer.
