LAS VEGAS (Hollywood Reporter) - Former Vice President Al Gore is drumming up interest in his upcoming environmental documentary by screening it for movie theater owners at their annual convention in Las Vegas.

(snip)

The film's marketing team will take a page from "The Passion of the Christ" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe" and target the faith-based groups that helped make those pictures box office hits. Gore said Paramount also will pursue environmental and business groups to boost awareness of the Davis Guggenheim-directed documentary.

9. and another thing to look forward to -- Gore appearing on Letterman ...
... Oprah, and The Daily Show, maybe even the Colbert Report -- talking about his book and movie. (I don't know for sure which ones he will be on, but it's a fair bet that he will be on various talk shows.) I have to say that I'm really looking forward to all of his promotional appearances (not something I say for most of the folks out flogging their books, films, etc.).

10. I agree Lisa,
I remember when Al appeared on the old Phil Donahue Show, about the time Al came out with "Earth In The Balance" and Phil introduced him with something to the effect of "and now the man that will save the earth", it was great.:)

11. I predict that Al will rock the house!
He does a pretty good interview anyway (like the time he broke the ashtray on Letterman's show) ... and given that this topic is so close to his heart, I think we can count on some passionate, memorable appearances. (Even Cokie Roberts was impressed, when he brought flip-charts to a party, years back ... she was all set to make fun of him, and came away amazed.)

FAHRENHEIT 9/11: Congressional Black Caucus members tried to object to the election outcome on the floor of the House; no Senator would sign the objections.

“While Vice President Al Gore appeared to have accepted his fate contained in two wooden ballot boxes, Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus tried repeatedly to challenge the assignment of Florida's 25 electoral votes to Bush…. More than a dozen Democrats followed suit, seeking to force a debate on the validity of Florida's vote on the grounds that all votes may not have been counted and that some voters were wrongly denied the right to vote.” Susan Milligan, “It’s Really Over: Gore Bows Out Gracefully,” Boston Globe, January 7, 2001.
The Congressional Black Caucus effort failed for “lack of the necessary signature by any senator.” Sen. Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) had previously advised Democratic senators not to cooperate. ‘They did not.’” Robert Novak, “Sweeney Link Won't Help Chao,” Chicago Sun-Times, January 14, 2001.

IS THERE A SENATOR IN THE HOUSE?

When Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus stood up and opposed the assignment of Florida's 25 electoral votes to Bush, why didn't a single senator step up to sign the objections? Why do you suppose Sen. Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) advised them not to cooperate?

13. Nothing else matters? Survival of most life on earth-including us-
matters quite a lot. The effects of climate change won't just be an inconvenience for your grandchildren; they could very well kill off our current generation-or at the very least throw the planet into a massive world war over resources.

14. He refused to FIGHT for office then he won't fight period......
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 04:24 PM by jus_the_facts
....heh it's all over but the cryin' for HIM and the rest of us who're left with what we've GOT and it isn't HIM with all his ideas for making the world a better place...IS IT?! Uh NO IT'S NOT!

Al refused to FIGHT the good fight and everything that's happened since is a DIRECT result of him making THAT choice...and so goes the environment too straight down the tubes...that's the reality of the situation regardless of any hopes and wishes of the *truth* being told. :eyes:

16. So let's just curl up and die? WTF?
Once the Supreme Court makes a ruling THAT'S IT. No do overs.Sure, he could have gone down kicking and screaming-but he STILL would have gone down. Yes, the system is corrupt, and yes, maybe things could have been done that weren't. But for you to basically say that Al Gore should Shut The Fuck Up about the very real and immediate threat of Climate Change because you're still bitter and eating worms over what can't be undone-well, that's damned counterproductive. I was pissed about KERRY rolling over too-he DIDN'T have the SCOTUS making final rulings and he DID know about voter fraud-you he still conceded in a hurry. Does that mean that I wouldn't support him in his attempt to filibuster Alito?

HELL. NO.

Because some issues are too bloody important for us to get caught up in "shoulda woulda" nonsense when dwelling on the past could jeopardize our futures. Climate change will continue regardless of whether or not we find a time machine to undo the damage of 2000. The real question should be "how do we slow it? And what can be done to make slowing it a top priority for every government on earth TODAY".

17. "for you to basically say that Al Gore should Shut The Fuck Up..."
...where did I basically state that exactly? :eyes:

Your guess is as good as mine at this point about where things are headed...what I do know is that Al and the Democrats in the Senate STILL haven't answered for their actions that day...much less what the state of our union looks like TODAY because we'll NEVER KNOW what might have been indeed...but from my perspective...it's looking pretty damned BLEAK for the environment and we the people on all fronts...regardless of blowin' sunshine up my rear end about climate change and what an important issue it is...tell me something I don't already know...like WHY the HELL wouldn't ONE Senator sign that petition?! :patriot:
