White House defends Bush's Iran-Iraq charge (quoted Negroponte)
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 12:59 PM by Barrett808
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House defended US President George W. Bush's charge that Iran had helped to make roadside bombs deadlier in Iraq, one day after the Pentagon cast doubt on the accusation.

Spokesman Scott McClellan noted that Bush had been citing congressional testimony in February from the US director of national intelligence, John Negroponte, when he echoed the charge in a speech on Monday.

"The president was specifically citing the testimony that our lead intelligence official gave before Congress," McClellan told reporters.

He also bristled at the notion that Bush had linked Iran's government to more deadly improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Iraq, saying: "You're talking about the government. The president was very precise in his comments."

Bush had quoted Negroponte as saying that "Tehran has been responsible for at least some of the increasing lethality of anti-coalition attacks by providing Shia militia with the capability to build improvised explosive devices in Iraq."

3. Poor Scotty.
"Tehran has been responsible" passes for " very precise".

Perhaps the press should just boycott covering the White House. it's a waste of time anyway. Let the WH get their message out solely through their whacked mouthpieces.

11. SO WHAT if Iraq's neighbors help to get rid of the invaders/occupiers??
.
.
.

NONE of Iraq's neighbors asked the USA to invade because they were worried about Iraq's/Saddam's activities . .

In reality most of them REFUSED to participate in the USA invasion on their neighbor

GO HOME USA!!

Lawdy knows your megabucks would be better spent taking care of your own citizens.

Just my Canuk Observations

13. So, Snotty, it's okay...
that Wrong doesn't change his rhetoric based on updated information from the people who actually know what's going on?

It's okay that Wrong doesn't have a clue what's the real deal in Iraq?

It's okay that Wrong still thinks Iran is helping the opposition (they aren't a damned insurgency, since they're fighting a civil war, y'know), and thinks that the Shi'a are the ones being helped?

Damn, I wish it was okay for ME to be that incompetant and inaccurate in what I say (and I'm only a tech writer... imagine if I had REAL influence in the world... not like the pResident, huh?)
