RawStory: Third Democratic senator backs censure resolution (Boxer)
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Second_senator_sponsors_censure_resolution_0315.html

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has become the third U.S. senator to back a move to censure President Bush over the warrantless wiretapping program. She joins Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI)

Boxer's office said she would support the measure.

"Senator Boxer has said she would vote for the Feingold resolution," Boxer press secretary Natalie Ravitz told RAW STORY.

Roll Call reported earlier today that Harkin had joined Feingold in his bid to censure Bush. Most Democrats have not expressed an opinion on the move, but Senate aides have told RAW STORY they were frustrated with how it was introduced, and for the fact no one was told before the motion was unveiled.

:woohoo:

Come on, Dems!

23. Could it be...the whole group will eventually sign on.
But rather than creating an initial surge, the strategy is to build slowly and build momentum in the media. If everyone joined immediately, the story would fade quickly and become unmanagable. Much better to keep the public's attention focussed on the Constitution and abuse of power.

I'll enjoy the show. Go get 'em Russ!

You, like Sen. Harkin are to be commended for some courage.

--
Of course, it goes in concentric circles, like growth-rings of a tree. The ones who've sided with Senator Feingold first are big risk-takers too, and from there it goes outward with outer rings assuming less risk when joining in progressively later.

Another twenty rings or so, and we might hear something from my senator, Mrs. Clinton.
Sheesh, even the timing of any stand at all seems be so careful, calculated. My call to her DC office yesterday yielded no clue, nor any satisfaction.

The time to sound like a trumpet is now---waiting too long will only sound like a kazoo. Again.

9. this is such a no brainer; why would any democrat back away from
it. The only reason i can think of is that it somehow trivializes, or preempts, the nsa domestic warrantless spying from being the basis for an impeachment.

19. No it doesn't.
Feingold deliberately left the door open for a special prosecutor & possible impeachment, saying that this is a first step. Snowballs start small.

10. Finally...some good news...
Supporting it just seems like a no-brainer given the Chimp's poll numbers...you think a few of them on both sides would want it on the record for their respective campaigns given they will facing a good chuck of people who really really hate Bush now...

12. Whew! Good news for once
I knew about Harkin this afternoon, but a 3rd supporter makes it look good.

Now, is she willing to co-sponsor, like Harkin? The article doesn't say.

But, excellent news. At least we know we're not going completely crazy.

29. I think more will sign on... they better do it SOON.
I don't see how any Democrat (Biden, Clinton, Kerry etc.) could contemplate a run for president and not support the censure proposal. Bush broke the law, and he admitted he broke the law. Bush said he would continue to break the law. These are facts. If Democrats want to be known as 'tough on defense' they should start by defending the U.S. constitution. If they won't fight to defend the constitution, what will they fight for?

Nobody is above the law, not even the president. Unless there are Senators who condone breaking the law, they better start putting their names on the dotted line.

Keep calling them, including Republican senators too. My senators can forget about getting another campaign contribution to the party, without a signature. I'm sick and tired of Democrats in Congress who have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to get them to do the right thing.
