Democrats Slam Revised Gay-Clearance Rules
WASHINGTON - The White House said Wednesday a revised policy on granting security clearances to gays and lesbians does not reflect a change in how the government will treat sexual orientation.

But several Democrats denounced the new rules.

"The Bush administration is waging a covert war on loyal federal employees who happen to be gay," said California Rep. Henry Waxman (news, bio, voting record), the top Democrat on the House Government Reform Committee.

The administration rewrote a 1997 regulation that had said sexual orientation "may not be used as a basis" for denying clearances or determining whether individuals should be eligible to access classified information unless it could make them vulnerable to coercion or exploitation.

2. So, people who are homosexual are now a security risk?
Fundies and neocons and the idiots who follow them are the security risks.

6. Only gay Democrats and liberals
Right-wing closet cases and even openly gay repukes get a free pass.

9. Well, you know, because someone could
"out" them, and then they'd be exposed.

As homosexuals, who are a security risk...

Their bigoted, circular thinking at work again.

3. They are constantly chipping away at the right of gays,
lesbians and women in general in small increments. They seem determined to keep rich white males in power. This has got to end.

8. Homophobia and This Mal-Administration's Blunders
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 09:02 PM by VogonGlory
The incumbent mal-administration's decision to make sexual orientation an issue regarding security clearances was yet another serious blunder in the war against Islamacist terrorists like Osama bin Laden. What the HELL were the "adults" thinking? Islamofascists like bin Laden and the Iranian mullahs hate gays and lesbians as much as their Bah-bul waving, pulpit-thumping Xian fundamentalist counterparts; why the fiery orange Gehenna do the dolts who re-wrote the regulations think that gays and lesbians would forget that?

I can't help but remember reading about the last gay-hunting spree by Team Shrub's counter-intelligence guys about the time the troops went into Iraq. Dozens of people fluent in Arabic and Farsi out the door out the door during a major military operation.

@##$%&**#$%^&@ FOOLS! How many more blunders of this magnitude can the US take!

The idiots who re-wrote those regulations and the cretins who approved them should be fired for dereliction of duty.

:grr: :argh: :wtf:

10. All you need to do is read this below
to know how insane these anti-gay policies are. Yea, there's absolutely no need for Arab and Farsi translators in the military right now.

It's nauseating :puke:

Washington, DC, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- The military forced at least 25 Middle Eastern language speakers to leave the armed forces from 1998 and 2003 because they were homosexual, according to the Pentagon.

14. This is a privacy rights issue --
What business is it of the Feds about who one loves -- or SEX --

This is also a control issue -- the damned GOP wants to collect every bit of info on everyone -- for what? Blackmail??

I just can't find the logic of condemning or judging individuals on the basis of who they love (or lust after).

Gee -- what about inter racial dating or marriage?

The excuse given for discrimination against gays is that they can be back mailed -- well IF everyone were open and came out of the closet THEN that excuse is gone. Now gays will be forced to live a false life.

This bothers me because if the GOP/religious wing nuts are allowed this blatant bias (hatred) then they can go after others who are "different".

These right wing extremists are giving Christ a very bad name. How many killed/murdered in Christ's name will satisfy them???
