Katrina (attorney) Group has another whistleblower on [thier] side
Note to editor: I changed the headline to make it more applicable to people outside of NE Mississippi. I kept the gist of the orignal.

Oxford lawyer has another whistleblower on his side

Daily Journal

By MICHAEL KUNZELMAN

MOSS POINT - Hollywood came calling after a whistleblower helped Oxford's Richard "Dickie" Scruggs win a multibillion-dollar settlement against tobacco companies.

Now Scruggs, whose landmark fight against the tobacco industry was portrayed in the 1999 movie "The Insider," is following the same script as he takes on insurance companies in Hurricane Katrina's wake.

Scruggs said a "highly placed insider" who works for a major insurance company is helping him build a case against companies that denied claims to thousands of policyholders whose homes were destroyed by the storm. The informant, Scruggs said, gave him copies of internal reports prepared by engineers who were hired by an insurance company to inspect storm-damaged homes.

...

Scruggs said a second whistleblower is "just starting to come forward" and cooperate with his legal team, the Katrina Group. The whistleblowers' employers may not be aware of their cooperation with the plaintiffs' attorneys, Scruggs added. "We'll see if they're stupid enough to try to shut them down before they talk, which of course creates a huge story - just the fact that they're trying to shut somebody up that has inside information," he said.

North MS Daily Journal Article

Note: Scruggs, a stauch democrat, is Senator Lott's Brother-In-Law. He was the lead plantiff attorney for over 30 states in the Tobacco Settlement, and was a lead plantiff attorney in a large amount of Asbestos legislation.

1. You get 'em Dickie!
Tie that to the lawsuits and grand jury investigations discussed in the article in this link http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x4908581 and you will see that the insurance companies have maliciously screwed us, denied our claims based on not only fraudulent investigations, but mandated fraudulent investigations and reports of our claims.

:argh:

thanks for posting this link :hi:

3. Good, go get them.
Even with my cynical view of insurance companies, I am appalled at what they are pulling. I think Iread that State Farm is the only one to pay so far, but even they are dragging their feet. Insurance companies are a form of legalized gambling, that many are required to participate in. They want to make money. Period.
