IRAQ: Hundreds of families displaced by offensive(Samarra refugees)
BAGHDAD, 19 March (IRIN) - Hundreds of families have fled the city of Samarra, some 120 km northwest of the capital, Baghdad, after US coalition and Iraqi forces launched the biggest air offensive in the country since 2003.

"We have sent volunteers from the disaster department to monitor the situation and we are preparing ourselves for an emergency," said Ferdous al-Abadi, spokesperson for the Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) in Baghdad.

IRCS volunteers working in the Salahuddine governorate, where Samarra is located, said more than 700 families had left the city and no one had received aid so far.

"We have informed the IRCS's office in the capital about the critical situation and they are going to send a convoy to the area. The main requirements are blankets, tents, food supplies, potable water and medicine," explained Ahmed Tikrit, a volunteer for the IRCS and resident of Samarra.

1. Does this stuff ever stop? Half most likely came from some other place.
One of my child terrors came from seeing news shows at the movies of families on the road all over the world with plane coming in to shot at them. I guess in my old age I am going to go out seeing the same thing. The shock is now it is my own countries planes do the dirty work. It sure makes one depressed. :hide:

2. Think "Mai Lai" - your country has been doing this for over half a century
.
.
.

But it's not "murdering civilians" ya know, . .

It's "Collateral Damage"

An acceptable principle of the USA Administration

Just like their "preemptive" wars on other countries

LIKE

as if

who the fuck is gonna attack the United States which is not only has proved over half a century ago that they are willing and capable of dropping nuclear weapons on other nations (Japan, which was attempting to surrender, by the way)

And has more Nukes and capable delivery systems than the rest of the world combined

Dumm voters y'all got down there I swear

Millions more will die because of the voters apathy and ignorance . . .

But consider this - in the long run, it will be the USA that falls, as all Empires for the last 5,000 years or so have done

Nukes won't change that fact of history - just make it a whole lot messier for the world to recover from . .

and the USA will just be a bad memory

but it could have been SO much better . .

(sigh)

Maybe we should just put the rag heads in "tiger cages" and let the rats eat them.

What is this Country coming to? Prosecuting our troops for demoralizing the enemy? We should
be harrasing the likes of our news media, Cindy Sheehan, and their ilk.

As for these captured terrorists, there would be no problem if they had not been taken prisoner.

Lets stop the moralizing and remember the war is about breaking things and killing things.

Eliminate terroists and terrorism is eliminated.

be a cold day in hell before I would testify against one of my fellow soliders to appease the higher
ups, testimony like that given by Sgt. John H. Ketzer is whats going to convict these men,
he needs the dogs turned on him.
if a dog bit off a ball and it saved an american fighting man then it was worth it.

I believe that in time of War the Press (civilian)Should not be allowed. This situation is indeed a
problem and should/will not be tolerated by any military Branch. Let Military handle it and they
will. I can hear the cries now for "Free Press"-- War is Hell at times. but it is War, Shut down the
games and lets get on with the task at hand..

5. Thanx for your response Sai but I already know
.
.
.

How the USA Military poisons young minds to go kill "sand niggers" or whatever else terminology they can think of to "dehumanize" the civilians they will kill 8,000 miles away to "protect America"

If the voters down there don't smarten up REAL soon, then I see the USA as being one of the shortest lived nations in the history of the world, -

GONE, yes

but not forgotten . . . .

and it will not be a fond memory .. .

(sigh)

8. Good analogy
The troops are being brainwashed

2 hours a day of rush limp balls on armed forces radio

And Faux News as your sole source of whats happening.

Plus the fact that most new regular recruits are referred to as low hanging fruit

6. Yes and we removed Indians to the West in almost cattle drives
but what I hoped is that we would learn and get better. I hardly thought that after Vietnam we would be right back at it. I thought we had learned with each error. If we do not wake up I think we will fail. One has to look at things with some reason also. Once we built Japan and Europe up to be buyers of our goods we had to know they they would wish to be the makers of the goods to sell also. A change is always a results of a change.
