Hackett joins fundraising fight for vets

WASHINGTON - Indian Hill's Paul Hackett isn't on Ohio's U.S. Senate campaign trail anymore, but he's still raising money for Democratic candidates.

The lanky Iraq war veteran drove his pickup to Washington last week to help launch a new political action committee that aims to raise millions for Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. He also appeared at a star-studded fundraiser for the PAC in Washington Thursday.

"Hopefully, I'll have more success in raising money for the PAC than I did for my Senate campaign," Hackett joked, adding that veterans like himself would bring a "more knowledgeable, credible voice" to the debate on how to end the Iraq war.

Hackett is on the board of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans PAC along with retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark, a 2004 Democratic presidential hopeful, and Bob Kerrey, a former U.S. senator and governor of Nebraska.

1. I wish him and the vets luck and hope we can get past the
tensions of his ill-fated campaign.
Now we need to work cleaning Congress of all republican critters.

2. Paul Hackett is a "gem" the Ohio Democrats
ignored......or maybe the issue was based on feeling jealous. I just know I feel a great big void without him in the Ohio U.S Senate Race. I feel wounded.
