Feinstein: Get rid of Rumsfeld

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., says it's time to replace U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and start pulling out of Iraq, a report said Tuesday.

"I say it's time to change course, to bring in another team," Feinstein told San Jose, Calif., business leaders. "We should not be putting American soldiers in the middle of a civil war with targets on their backs."

While Feinstein criticized Rumsfeld's handling of Iraq for more than a year, Monday was the first time she said Rumsfeld should be fired, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.

"Secretary Rumsfeld is a very strong leader, and I don't believe he listens to many people, and that's a problem," Feinstein said. "It's time for him to go."

2. I wish she would have stood with Kerry in 2003 after Abu Ghraib surfaced.
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 12:26 PM by blm
It would have had greater impact on the issue of competence and accountability if more senators had stood up then for Rumsfeld's firing.

I hope it works this time, and NOT in a way to prolong the occupation.

3. Why would she say he's a "strong leader"?

Those words are like an aphrodisiac to freeper types. How about "a stubborn, stubborn, incompetent, delusional man."

7. Seriously.
Thats a really dumb thing to say...especially considering there is no evidence to suggest that. Not to mention the fact that she negates her point completely by starting off with such a dumbass sentence.

If memory serves, Rummy has handed in his resignation at least once, & Boy George refused to accept it. So he'll never fire Rumsfeld.

Besides, Rummy & Cheney are the ones running this whole fiasco. The only thing worse that Rummy staying on is letting Deadeye Dick run the show by himself. God help us all if that comes to pass.

Dean and Kerry-the ones that the rest never follow. The ones that dare to speak the truth. God, can we fire the rest of these Dems, please?

Saturday 26 September 2003

Democratic presidential candidates Howard Dean and John Kerry have called for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to resign, citing a "pattern of deception" in his statements on Iraq and a failure to plan for the postwar period.

Kerry, a Senator from Massachusetts, first said Thursday that Rumsfeld should step down, saying he proceeded in Iraq "in an arrogant, inappropriate way that has frankly put America at jeopardy."

Dean, the former governor of Vermont, joined the call Friday and added Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz to the list of those who should quit. Dean announced that he was starting a national petition drive on the Internet to demonstrate support for their resignations.

14. Maybe she's lobbying for the job herself, as she's a war pig.
Her hands have blood on them and her husband's defense firm is profiteering from massive defense contracts.

17. She's like someone that comes out for women's rights
five minutes before the vote is ratified to give us the vote. This is the kind of leadership we have. FIRE Rumsfeld yeah, baby, I think we figured that one out YEARS ago-and the war has only been going on for a 3 years. I know I should be THRILLED that she figured it out though.

20. It must be nice to be in politics
You can commit numerous crimes, and the only response you will get is either "step down and resign" or minimum security prison with the high likelyhood of a last minute presidential pardon.
