Female Soldier From Md. Dies In Iraq

The Department of Defense (website) says a 19-year-old female soldier from Maryland has died in Iraq, officials announced Wednesday.

Private first class Amy Duerksen of Aberdeen Proving Ground died in Baghdad on March 11 from a non-combat-related injury.

Aberdeen Proving Ground spokesman George Mercer said Duerksen's father is an Army chaplain stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, which is why APG was her address of record.

Duerksen was assigned to the Fourth Combat Support Battalion, First Brigade, Fourth Infantry Division - based at Fort Hood, Texas.

2. This young woman is the same age as my children
And the college students I teach.

That makes me cry. So young.

And to watch Bush belligerently defending his crimes at the press conference the other day made me sick with rage.

4. I wonder if she was killed to cover up a crime
...I feel so sorry for young women serving over there right now, it has to be a prison like environment.

6. Pile em high'

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.
