Bush's comment on Iraq too big a leap for Hagel

BY JAKE THOMPSON

WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

CONCORD, N.H. - U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel told a New Hampshire radio audience Wednesday that he is concerned about President Bush's statement that the next president will decide when to bring all U.S. troops home from Iraq.

Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska joins a band of Republicans and most Democrats in blocking renewal of the Patriot Act.

"I think it is very uncertain as to what the world looks like in 2009," Hagel said when Laura Knoy, host of the public radio program "The Exchange," raised the issue.

"I was a little puzzled to see the president jump out that far to make that kind of a comment," he said. "I'm not sure that helps settle Americans' concerns, or settles them down in their lack of confidence in what they have been told about Iraq."

2. Do not trust that man. Even though he's better than Ben Nelson in some
respects, he is still a republican with designs on the White House. And he has a record of lying to get what he wants. But then again, don't they all?

3. When oh when
will his running ES &S when that company counted the votes in his upset first senate victory become radioactive enough to at least be remembered here on DU?

If we have to keep reminding people looking wistfully for the "good GOP" among vets of "honor" like McCain and Hagel, here of all all places, just imagine how easy it would be for them to run for president.

4. Anyone who steals an election as Hagel almost certainly did,
does not deserve anything anytime anywhere. Impeach Hagel along with Bush and Cheney.

5. Do we really need to be so conspiracy minded?
Or did I miss the evidence that supports your claim.

7. There are two chapters on Hagel's election from black box voting

The right hand side in blue.

9. I looked at that
Thanks for the link. But I do not think it justifies the charge of stealing. I don't have a problem with Beverly's efforts though, she is doing a good thing and we should all support that.

8. Because "settling concerns" is more important than doing
the right thing.
