Photos disappear amid AMI cleanup (National Enquirer)

BOCA RATON — Elvis has left the building.

But where has he gone? That's the question tabloid photographers posed about the famous image of Elvis lying in his coffin as well as thousands of other images contaminated with anthrax at the former American Media Inc. building.

At the end of last year, MARCOR Remediation decontaminated anthrax from 8,500 wax-covered boxes and another 180 oversized boxes, all containing images, papers, employee mementos and office trash. Then, a "majority" of those boxes were incinerated, Palm Beach County Health Department spokesman Tim O'Connor said Thursday.

The remaining 600 to 800 "clean" boxes recently were removed from the former AMI building with the approval of the Environmental Protection Agency, which has been overseeing the cleanup, O'Connor said.

Health officials don't know where those boxes were taken. "We don't have anything to do with the personal property issue," he said.

6. Murder detectives know to "start with the first murder"

A high-ranking editor at the National Enquirer died of anthrax caused by massive contamination of his office. After that, other letters containing much smaller amounts of anthrax were mailed - seemingly at random - to newscasters and Senator Daschle's office. While those letters were going through the mail system, anthrax leaked from the envelopes and infected other letters, killing those recipients.

The anthrax, we learned, was unusually high-grade - the type of anthrax the government had been working on in secret.

Why was the anthrax mailed to the National Enquirer in the first place?

Is it possible that the subsequent mailings were a cover-up to the planned crime, which was the murder of an editor at a tabloid known for paying good money for embarrassing photos and stories about celebrities?

The Enquirer had already published embarrassing photos of the drunken Bush twins. What else were they getting ready to publish? What did they have in their files?

Because of the massive contamination of their offices, the entire National Enquirer building was taken over by our federal government and sealed off for years. Now we learn that many boxes of photos are missing. What else is missing?

And why have so many microbiologists died recently? Many have died in extremely odd circumstances.

I am not generally a conspiracy theorist. I'm just pointing out that the anthrax story (never solved, dropped by the media, seemingly ignored by the Bush administration) is very very peculiar.

7. Giuliani's firm cleaned the building and wanted to destroy photos

Bio-ONE, a firm led by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, originally agreed to decontaminate the building. The firm said work was done there 16 months ago, but some photos stored at the site were not fully cleaned, according to the Sun.

Bio-ONE wanted to destroy the pictures. However, freelance photographers with rights to the pictures would not allow the photos to be incinerated. The firm and the building’s owner, David Rustine, could not agree on how the photographs should be dealt with.

MARCOR Remediation Inc., which was hired to clean the pictures, began work at the building yesterday, according to the Palm Beach County Health Department.

That they could reopen the Hart Office Building in about 6 months, they didn't shut down the building the ABC newroom was in, yet over 4 years later the AMI building is still closed and Rudy still can't figure out how to clean the pictures? Give me a break

10. For a while the National Enquirer was breaking stories the MSM

wouldn't touch, then it dropped back off the radar. Coincidence? Now that I think about it, the stories stopped about the time Bush came into office.
