KOOKY KT'S SPY TALE

March 25, 2006 -- EXCLUSIVE
-------------------

ALBANY - A Republican challenger to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is bizarrely claiming that the former first lady has been spying in her bedroom window and flying helicopters over her house in the Hamptons, witnesses told The Post yesterday.

Former Reagan-era Pentagon official Kathleen "KT" McFarland stunned a crowd of Suffolk County Republicans on Thursday by saying:

"Hillary Clinton is really worried about me, and is so worried, in fact, that she had helicopters flying over my house in Southampton today taking pictures," according to a prominent GOP activist who was at the event.

"She wasn't joking, she was very, very serious, and she also claimed that Clinton's people were taking pictures across the street from her house in Manhattan, taking pictures from an apartment across the street from her bedroom," added the eyewitness, who is not involved in the Senate race.

Suffolk County Republican Chairman Harry Withers, who hosted the reception in East Islip, confirmed McFarland's paranoid statements.

"Yes, she said that," Withers told The Post.

3. Where the fuck do they dig these idiots up?
And who decides that they are worthy of anybody's vote? Or are they just unhinged hacks with enough money to buy their way into races they are sure to lose. I mean, I'm all for this paranoid nutcase entering the senate race against Clinton but isn't there anyone in the puke party who worries about their image? Never mind, I realize that was a dumb though rhetorical question.

5. Projection, or Wishful Thinking?
I doubt Hillary could be bothered. Or any Democrat. More proof that while you probably don't HAVE to be mentally ill to be in the GOP, it certainly doesn't hurt!

7. I like this line:
Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson denied any spying was going on.

"We at the Hillary campaign wish Ms. McFarland the best and hope she gets the rest she needs," he said.

11. McFarland: Clinton spying on me? It was just a joke!
McFarland: Clinton spying on me? It was just a joke!

ALBANY, N.Y. -- It was just a joke, potential Republican challenger Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland said Saturday after the New York Post reported her saying Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's camp was spying on her.

The Post said McFarland comments came Thursday at an event on Long Island hosted by Suffolk County GOP Chairman Harry Withers.

McFarland in a statement issued Saturday by her campaign said she was only joking.

"This is a perfect example of what is happening in American politics. One misinterpreted joke and your opponents are smearing you in the press," her statement said. "I continue to believe that we can be better than that. But, I've got to tell you, it's not easy."

Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland (born 1952) was deputy assistant secretary of defense for public affairs at the Pentagon from 1982 to 1985 under President Ronald Reagan and speechwriter to Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger. McFarland is said to be a protégée of Henry A. Kissinger. McFarland is a Manhattan resident and is married to Alan Roberts McFarland, an investment banker. KT is mother of five (Andrew, Gavin, Fiona, Luke, & Camilla) and grandmother of three.

McFarland has never held elected office. She is running as a Republican in the New York United States Senate election, 2006, for the seat now held by Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is running for re-election.

15. "She wasn't trying to be funny," Spencer (R) told the AP
McFarland's chief rival for the GOP nomination to take on Clinton in this year's Senate race, former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer, said he was also at the event and heard the former Reagan-era Pentagon official make the remarks.

"She wasn't trying to be funny," Spencer told The Associated Press on Saturday. "And, no one laughed."

The Clinton campaign took the opportunity to poke fun at their potential rival.

"We at the Hillary campaign wish Ms. McFarland the best and hope she gets the rest she needs," said Clinton adviser Howard Wolfson.

ROFLMAO!!! If they don't go nuts running against Hillary, they "cut and run"...I can't wait to see who the GOP puts up next!
