More Than Six in 10 Still Support Decision in Schiavo Case
One Year Later, Americans' Views Are Unchanged

March 27, 2006 — One year later, Americans' views of the Terri Schiavo case are unchanged — more than six in 10 still say removing her feeding tube was the right thing to do.

Sixty-four percent in this ABC News poll support last year's decision to remove Schiavo's feeding tube. It was an almost identical 63 percent at the time. More than four in 10 "strongly" believe it was the right thing to do; twice as many as "strongly" call it wrong.

...

Both sides of the family are releasing books about the ordeal this month.

3. The other four are nucking futs
What part of "no brain matter left" and "completely blind" didn't those loons get?

Honestly, the power of magical thinking is something to behold. We just need to keep them away from sharp objects... and power.

4. THAT afternoon two hours, DU, and some reading
that's all it took to see that there was NO issue here. None at all.

And there were no GOD DAMNED QUESTIONS GOT IT ...SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I am so tired of hearing "Well you know there are some questions about what happened that night" NO THERE AREN'T

This fully exposed the RW noise machine and was the whiff of air that the public (in spite of the media) needed to get the ball rolling downhill on W.

6. Why is this an issue anymore?
I saw the Schiavo family this morning on GMA. They were allowed to push their book & slam Michael Sciavo. When Diane Sawyer finally asked them, 'what about the autopsy report?' They responded the coroner didn't know Terri & anyone who spent anytime with her would know she was not a vegetable. That went unchallenged. When she asked the family about Michael's claim the father confronted him wanting money, the brother stated that all Terri's settlement money went to the husband's lawyers. That also went unchallenged. The question I wanted Sawyer to ask at this point was "Who paid Terri's hospital bills & how much did they total?"

So much for trying to get facts out about this case a year later. But I guess it always goes back to the bat-shit crazy 30% in this country.

18. Her Brain Had Turned Entirely into Goo According to the Autopsy
If that 30% are all brain-dead zombies themselves, they might have reason to be concerned.

8. Huh?
"More than four in 10 "strongly" believe it was the right thing to do; twice as many as "strongly" call it wrong."

So let's see: 40% strongly believe right thing to do. 2x (80%) strongly believe wrong thing to do. That would be 120%. It also contradicts the original assertion that 'over 60% support the decision".

I 90% strongly believe this article was written by a moron. Oh and what is with the headline "Still Support Decision in Schiavo Case"? Why on earth would the rational 66% of the population change their minds?

Now the bad news: 34% of the polling sample are freaking nutcases.

9. 40% strongly believe it was the right thing to do.
That's twice the 20% who strongly believe it was the wrong thing to do. Therefor, the writer is not a moron.

19. "... twice as many AS "strongly" call it wrong."
40% who call it right is double the number who call it wrong.

15. Agreed -- the question must have been framed weirdly
Last year, the pools were +85% for the tube being taken out.

enablers who didn't want to remove the tube...

go figure

There will be a lot more involvement of the government in private rights, especially when people do NOT even know the difference between the morning after pill, and RU486

12. The sad part is that more didn't change their mind...
on the other side. That means that 40% basically made their decision and refused to change it based on real, factual evidence. Those are the people who have taken over our government.

23. None of my family members knew about the child shut off life support
in Texas per Dubya's legal mandate at the same time as the Schaivo Follies. Not one of the Bush supporters or others had heard a peep about the law he signed as Governor allowing hospitals to shut off life support if financial obligations could not be met.
