Coalition base with Canadian soldiers hit by mortar attack

The main coalition airbase in Kandahar where most Canadians in Afghanistan are stationed was rattled early Tuesday in an apparent mortar attack in the northwest sector.
There were three explosions in a remote area of the base, north of the main runway, around 3:15 a.m. local time, Maj. Scott Lundy told reporters.

The explosions were "away from the main lodging areas," Lundy said.
