India's training of Iranian troops could dampen vital US Congress support for a bilateral landmark civilian nuclear deal, a ranking Democrat warned on Thursday.

Tom Lantos, the top Democrat on the House of Representatives' powerful international relations committee scrutinizing the nuclear deal, expressed concern to visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran during talks here over India's training of the Iranian navy, the lawmaker's spokeswoman Lynne Weil told AFP.

"Congressman Lantos pointed out that episodes of conflict in relations between US and India, such as India's early wavering in its commitment to refer Iran to the UN Security Council and more recent concerns raised about Iranian troops receiving training from India will only undermine Congressional support for the deal," she said.

The Iranian Navy reportedly completed a five-day training program at the Indian naval base in Kochi in early March. Two Iranian Navy ships were anchored in the southern Indian city for nearly a week and some 200 cadets underwent training, news reports had said.

3. The real messy world

This applies to the Soviets and India and any other "friend" of Iran. When everyone has deals with everyone, no one has secrets(except from their simpler minded citizens) and whatever the overall loyalty in policy(if any) it is like a buggy Windows program. Click here and Russia is providing info and advice to our 'foes". Another window and Russia is telling us thins and leaking things they now know about their "allies". Business deals mean someone in India is listening and sharing, including what they are giving to our "foes".

THIS is precisely the kind of convenient mess the war profiteer dynasty loves, naturally cozy, interrelated, gameable, a club where things are complex and handled behind closed doors.

On the national security level? There is NO national security for anyone. Just customers and suckers who slaughter each other for the club. Need I mention any more clues, the banks, the cartels, Dubai? Nukes for everyone, including terrorists with a few oops, a few gambits, some plausible deniability in case of blowback.

The indignation is warranted. However, if this is the breadth of the concern of our reps they need a a real education real fast. The real world is run by a multi-national clique who don't know anything about national security but a lot about the game- and the personal profits.

6. Here's my take on this deal:

Bush basically went over there and sold out the U.S. to India. He offered them a sweet deal, they didn't have to make any concessions. They got the lion's share of the nuclear deal.

So why did we do it?

Well, now it makes sense. It's obvious we're trying to drive a wedge in between India & Iran. Plus, it made that fool Bush look good for about 12 1/2 hours (a miracle in itself).

Here's the problem: India will not cave to pressure. They're picking low-hanging fruits right now. They have built up their own formidable political strength. All the US can do is cave and sell it's grandmother for $5.00 if they can get it.

India will continue to be close to Iran. They will continue buying natural gas from them. I believe the pipeline is still under construction, much to the US's chagrin.
