Court: Schwarzenegger Campaign Broke Law
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A campaign committee controlled by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger broke state law by not promptly reporting what it spent promoting four measures on last November's special election ballot, an appeals court ruled.

The state court said the California Recovery Team committee should have reported its independent expenditures within 24 hours during the 90 days before the election. Independent expenditures are those not coordinated with a candidate or a ballot measure committee.

A campaign committee that opposed the Schwarzenegger ballot measures asked the state Fair Political Practices Commission on Thursday to fine Schwarzenegger's committee for the infractions.

1. And similar actions cost his near one time rival Rob Reiner his post
Two standards - Ahnold will get off with nothing, a hand slap. Reiner, trying to do some good that doesn't personally benefit himself has to resign from his non-profit post. :eyes:

2. That's awful...
thanks for posting this. I wasn't aware this issue affected Reiner at one time--I like his work.

3. Yeah, I just wish everyone would
follow what the laws state. If you have to report by such and such date, report damn it. I fail to understand what they think they are hiding from, since everything is watched so closely. We had a local candidate who was really good, and he didn't follow the rules, and had to resign. Just stupid.
