Britain: No plans to attack Iran

Britain: No plans to attack Iran

LONDON: British officials say they are not considering an attack on Iran and have no plans to discuss a military option, as has been reported in British media.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense said a Sunday Telegraph article was wrong in saying British defense officials would meet Monday to discuss what action to take if Iran attacked Iraq -- such as strategically bombing suspected Iranian nuclear plants.

Sky News reports both British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice are pushing for diplomacy on the Iranian issue to continue.

Iran was warned last week by the U.N. Security Council to end uranium enrichment or face sanctions.

5. Like a recording, it is.
It used to be Iran one week and Syria the next. Now we have switched to "bomb the shit out of Iran" one week and "no plans to attack Iran" the next.

2. That sounds pretty definitive
And the UK gov't is far less likely to lie than the current US one. Even with Tony Blair, the poodle, at the helm.

The people in the UK are steaming mad about the Iraq war. Look at Condi's visit.

Not exactly a round of endorsement.

16. you missed out the sarcasm smilely after 'Blair less likely to lie'
That lying crook in Downing Street has been lying from day one and hasn't stopped. The Government had to put in extra orders for whitewash in the last 4 years.

18. Blair lied every step of the way toward the illegal and immoral....
...invasion of Iraq. The Downing Street Memos proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Knowing that, what in the world would make you think that Blair is not lying now?

The people of the UK have about as much say in how their government is run as Americans have in the running of the NeoCon Junta.

6. gee, that sounds kind of familiar
i'm sure i've heard it before. what a crock. and this? "Iran was warned last week by the U.N. Security Council to end uranium enrichment or face sanctions." is a bald-faced LIE. that 'warning' as they call it was a non-binding statement that really meant nothing. of course that didn't stop fox/cnn etc... from proclaiming it as some sort of voice of doom ultimatum from on high.

11. It depends on what the definition of "Plan" is.
The way Bush used it, there wasn't a "plan" as long as there was a possibility there would be no invasion of Iraq. So there was no "plan" until he actuall gave the bombing command. It's all bullshit.

People get misled.
"Oooh ya got me."
"Ha ha, that was funny, Ted."
"The war won't happen before tea."

The last guy we beat up,
hasn't recovered so well,
i'm glad my good friend reserves his tupp,
for a better yew, one not from hell.

Another war will be the end,
of any government foolish enough to tell,
any word to the public mend,
mentioning any hint of violent mell.
Metaphor of straw hand twisting and smiles,
covering up something apparently by miles.

12. Why the hell would Iran attack Iraq?
Things are going about as well in Iraq (from Iran's perspective) as they could possibly hope.

Dust off those tinfoil hats, it's a setup. Watch for some PNAC-friendly event in eastern Iraq.

14. "We enter this conflict reluctantly..."
To this date, this is the worst bullshit remark I've ever heard from the * Administration. Reluctantly? Who was the one practically begging for a war for over a year?
