Majority in U.K. want troops out of Iraq

LONDON, April 3 (UPI) -- For the first time, a majority of Britons feel their troops are serving no purpose in Iraq and want them brought home, a poll by The Telegraph said Monday.

The survey found 57 percent of those asked believe U.S. President George Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair were wrong to take military action three years ago, and only one-third still believes they were right.

The YouGov poll shows that 55 percent of respondents want Britain to withdraw the troops either immediately or "within the next 12 months regardless of conditions."

The numbers are a flip from a similar poll taken a month after the March 2003 invasion, when 60 percent of respondents said that military action was right and 35 percent opposed it.

did anyone in Britain know know anyone that did support the war. Considering a million were on the streets in London alone with a handful of counter protestors this smells fishy to me.
