World politics has an impact on North Iowa

here's a perfect example of how America has lost respect under this administration.

A dose of politics in Italy this year has reached across thousands of miles and touched the North Iowa Band Festival.

Former Mason City Mayor Jean Marinos was telling the story the other day. Marinos is the new president of the Mason City Sister City Organization — a good fit for her. When she was mayor, she helped set up a sister-city relationship with Montegrotto Terme, Italy.

Mayor Claudio in Montegrotto Terme is up for re-election this year — and one of the campaign issues is participation in the sister city program.

Apparently, some people in the opponent’s camp are not thrilled with the idea of participating in an exchange program with Americans.
