Bush's NASA cuts halts much research

WASHINGTON, April 4 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush's goal to return astronauts to the moon by 2018 has forced NASA to trim spending for many research projects across the nation.

Astronomers, biologists and other U.S. scientists have received funding termination letters from NASA halting numerous space-related research projects at universities across the country, the Gannett News Service reported Tuesday.

The funding cuts are also viewed in alarm by scientists who fear the cuts will have a negative affect on students considering research careers.

"We are going to lose a whole generation of researchers because there is no funding to train them," Millie Hughes-Fulford, a former space shuttle payload specialist now at the University of California-San Francisco, told Gannett. "They look at people who put their life's work into NASA and see those people have no funding."

2. My Family is effected by this.
I have family that does real science for NASA and she told me that her budget and
work is effected by bush's stupid moon and mars plans. His building a moon base to
lunch a mission to mars will not work either.

President Fuckhead strikes again.

4. He's not really planning to do that. Watch those plans quietly
go away.

5. But as President when he says something NASA has to try to
spend time on what he wants. No matter how crazy.

My favorite conversation
w/ my family member (who is a rocket scientist) is even after we build our base
on the moon and build a rocket pad with rocket to Mars on the moon how do we
get fuel to the moon base for the mars mission. I asked that in front of other NASA
people at her house ..... they all started laughing. She just said that is a problem.

10. I would be quite surprised
(and grudgingly impressed) if he actually followed through on the moon deal. There are some pretty good reasons-from an energy perspective-for this program. My bet, however, is that the program will be (is being?) off-shored.

7. Faith Base Research is an viable alternative for scientist
"Proponents of faith-based organizations working with federal assistance are
thrilled and say these offices are in part responsible for religious groups receiving
$2.1 billion in federal grants last year,
up 7 percent from 2004, according to recent White House numbers."

These people are getting taxpayers monies and they do call it
Faith Based Research.

We need to start high school classes
as soon as possible on

faith base science
and faith base math....and soon we will lead the world in those areas of expertise and compentance

12. The manned program is a scientific disaster
More important robotic science missions have been hurt by the blood-sucking and risky astronaut program. I would rather ground all the flyboys and rely on robotic missions than to risk one life on programs like the shuttle.
