DETAILS:
On Wednesday, April 5, Members of Congress, led by Republican Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC), will hold a news conference to announce their support of House Resolution 543 and call on colleagues to adopt the resolution. H. Res 543 would require a full and immediate debate on U.S. policy in Iraq and provide up to 17 hours of deliberation on the House floor.
Simultaneously, Win Without War, the coalition of 40 national organizations including MoveOn.org, the National Council of Churches, True Majority, Working Assets, NAACP, and NOW will launch a national campaign demanding that the House of Representatives adopt H. Res 543. On Thursday, April 6, the coalition will release a Roll Call of Members who are "for" and "against" openly debating alternatives to the current Iraq policy.
The coalition unveils radio and print ads this week that will run in Ohio and Minnesota. Tens of thousands of coalition members will participate in a mass call-in day April 5, urging their Members of Congress to sign H. Res 543 and will visit Members' offices while they are home for the April District Work Period.
