Poll: Schwarzenegger approval ranking inching higher (45%)
http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/14263569.htm

By Kate Folmar
Mercury News Sacramento Bureau

SACRAMENTO - With Republicans rallying to his cause, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has reclaimed a little more of his once-astronomical popularity, but winning re-election could still prove to be a tough slog.

A poll released Tuesday by the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San Jose State University saw Schwarzenegger's approval rating climb to 45 percent among voters, up from 39 percent in January.

Most of that momentum is fueled by higher rankings among the GOP faithful, some of whom had been alienated by the Republican governor's more centrist actions, and Democratic hires, since last year's failed special election. But Republicans seem to have recovered from the disappointment; 70 percent of them now approve of his job performance, compared to 61 percent in January.

The liberal-leaning Bay Area is the only region where Schwarzenegger's popularity is still trending downward, from 37 percent in January to 30 percent now.

2. Who commissioned this poll?
Something seems wrong here. Seriously, it does. Other polls have him in the 30's.

the place, kicking out good voter registrations

They're getting ready to steal, for sure.

19. We didn't elect his ass in the first place
If he won that sham of a recall election without foul play, I'm a monkey's uncle.

You realize the rest of the world is saying the same thing to the US about electing Bush, right? Does America deserve that pissant clown? I think not.

35. Yeah!!
I certainly didn't vote for him, and neither did 99 percent of my friends and family. The first thing I thought of when I saw that so-called "poll," is: Oh crap, they're preparing us for the re-installation of Arnold--courtesy of Diebold.

8. not surprising really
corporate media needs 'poll' numbers for steroid boy 2 B up otherwise they can't steal the November election. It has 2 B tooo close 2 call. Then the diebold machines, recently re-certified by the appointed rethug SoS, can take over.

This poll was then "made up" to make Arnie look good.

10. As long as he keeps his trap shut, stays out of view and
keeps his hands to himself his ratings could go up. He's acheived nothing, ticked off everyone, and make no mistake the teachers union and nurses union can severly damage any poll numbers once things start heating up. They are powerful out here, how sad for other states where they don't have that strong a voice.

11. Will the same coalition that defeated him last fall get together again...
to defeat him this fall? That same group coming together would crush Arnold.

I don't believe that he's at 45% though.

12. What a difference
aa few high priced ads make.

Such a fickle bunch of voters we have here in CA. So many just need to be massaged into thinking good thoughts about our Gropernator.

I do believe we get what we deserve. :eyes:

26. Oh please....
If you guys believe that, (and I'm a California girl, born and bred), you actually believe that Bush is a Rhodes Scholar... The only place that really love him, (pardon my language), are certain populations in Orange, San Diego, Fresno, Kings, Siskiyou, San Bernardino counties and some of the the Inland Empire. Rabies and Plague, Child molesters, cannibals who consider newborn babies a delicacy are more admired by most of us than that blithering idiot.

Members of the California Nurses Association push what looks like a gurney with a giant soap bar down a hallway as they try to see California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger at a fundraiser attendeded by U.S. Sen. John McCain, in Beverly Hills, Calif., Monday, March 20, 2006. The nurses are wearing protective gear and want to hand the symbolic soap bar to Schwarzenegger to clean up corporate corruption. (AP Photo/Ann Johansson)
