NYT: Buckley Calls Clinton a Contender (not threatening)
William F. Buckley Jr., the prominent conservative writer and leader, says that while a strong Republican candidate for the 2008 presidential race has yet to emerge, the Democrats have in Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton a true contender to win the White House.

Mrs. Clinton is "a very consequential woman with an extraordinary background," he said in an interview with Bloomberg Television that was broadcast on Monday. "Her thought is kind of woozy left, not in my judgment threatening."

She is "a phenomenon, a woman candidate who might easily be president," he added.

Mr. Buckley suggested that he was less than impressed with the current group of potential candidates for 2008, saying, "I don't find a commanding presence sort of knocking on the door" for the next presidential campaign.

2. There is a simple reason why the repukes and MSM push
hillary as a candidate, because she divides the democrats, and unites the republicans

and we WILL LOSE in 2008 if she is the nominee

6. but it is the MSM and the RNC that verbalize it the most
If we take back congress in 2006 it will be in spite of the Democrats who have done very little the last 6 years except to rubber stamp every thing this administration has passed their way.

That is not to say there are not Democrats in Congress that make me proud, who fight the good fight, and are NOT afraid to speak truth to power. In fact those are the true heros, and more and people are recognizing the disaster that this administration has caused, but there were far too many democrats in Congress who took the path of least resistance, and those I have very little respect or support for.

7. Does she really unite the republicans?
I'm not so sure of that. She unites conservative fanatics, but the middle of the road repubs and female swing voters may vote for her. Especially if the GOP nominates someone unheard of, or McCain gets the nomination and then goes nuts on national tv.

I do think Hillary could be a contender as a candidate. A lot can change in 2 years, and the GOP could screw things up even more by 2008.

Hey, if Diebold is truly fixing elections, then it really doesn't matter who can win because the GOP will anyways.

8. I hear you, but that is NOT my experience
and as a lifelong Democrat, greater than 30 years, she will NOT get my vote
