White House Responds to War Referendum
Associated Press

The White House Wednesday (April 5, 2006) responded to the symbolic vote by thousands of Wisconsinites who weighed in on the war in Iraq.

By margins overwhelming in some places and narrow in others, voters in 24 of 32 communities approved referendums Tuesday (April 4, 2006) calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan was asked about the referendum results.
McClellan says all Americans want the troops to come home.

But, he says most Americans also recognize the importance of succeeding in Iraq as well.
McClellan reiterated President Bush's stance, saying the worst thing America could do is withdraw before the mission is complete.
He says that would be retreating, which is exactly what the terrorists want.

3. Guess he can't read.
Let's do one of those in every state and see what WTP want. I'm pretty sure the majority would turn out just like Wisconsin's! The tide has turned, Snotty!

6. If only.
If only *Co would spell out our mission in no uncertain terms. Fuck this terra shit. Fuck this bring democracy while we bury democracy in the US. We can't complete a mission that doesn't exist. That, I think, is what is causing so many Americans to turn against the war.

Pardon my "French."

7. How much ketamine does McClellan need to respond so vacuously to
a point like that and still sound halfway official, and still be able to feed himself and put his shoes on the correct foot?

Bush has never defined what the "mission" is in Iraq, at least not in understandable form, and the word-mangling he's done on the subject make the "mission" more confused and less clear all the time.

9. Who cares what you think?" GWB, Philadelphia 7/4/01
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/hangley.htm

So when the President was here on July 4, I had the opportunity to shake his hand. I wasn't sure if that was a good idea or not but I did it anyway, and said to him, "Mr President, I hope you only serve four years. I'm very disappointed in your work so far."

He kept smiling and shaking my hand but answered, "who cares what you think?" His face stayed photo-op perfect but his eyes gave me a look that said, if we'd been drinking in some frat house in Texas, he'd've happily answered, "let's take it outside." A nasty little gleam. But he was (fortunately) constrained by presidential propriety.

But that was the end of it, until I turned away and started scribbling the quote down in my notepad, so as to remember The Gift forever. When he saw me do that he got excited and craned his neck over the rubberneckers to shout at me, "who are you with? Who are you with?" People started looking so he made a joke: "make sure you get it right." But he kept at it: "Who do you write for?" I told him I wasn't "with" anybody and pointed to one of his staff people, who knows me a little, and said, "ask him, he'll tell you." Then I split.

10. I can see Bush saying something crappy like that.
Look at the pics of him giving the third finger salute.

Look at his arrogance.

The cocky way he walks.

He thinks he's Mr. Wonderful. And from his actions, it's pretty obvious he doesn't care what America thinks.
