AP: Goldberg to give up Air America CEO role
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/1310AP_Air_America_Radio.html

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEW YORK -- Air America Radio, the liberal talk radio network that features comedian Al Franken, announced late Wednesday that Danny Goldberg is giving up his role as CEO and will be replaced by an executive from a management consulting firm.

Goldberg, a longtime music industry executive, joined Air America as CEO in February of last year. He will remain with the company as vice chairman.

Jim Wiggett will become interim CEO while the company searches for a permanent replacement, the company said in a statement. Wiggett is president and CEO of the Jackson Hole Group, a management consulting firm in San Francisco.

6. Thanks for getting that meme out of the way early...
... and kudos to Goldberg, the Drobnys, Franken, Malloy, Randi, Jeanene & Sam, Rachel, Mark & Mark (I miss that show) and EVERYONE else that's made Air America a threat to the GOP, the BFEE and K Street.

2. Is this good news or bad news...?
I have to tell you, I don't like the words, "management consulting firm" - I hope they don't start telling people what to say / don't say on the air...

On the other hand, this could be very GOOD news, considering what I see as AAR's growth compared to its real potential...

4. Didn't he take over the spot when that guy screwed them over?
He took it to help them and to keep everything going. Perhaps he now is getting to do the part he wants to instead of the emergency spot he took over last February.

5. I think it's good news, too.
The only good business decision they've made is starting a syndication arm. Go back to the music business, Danny--you're in over your head.

7. And believe me, the music biz needs Goldberg
... and let's not forget that Goldberg took a rickety 'Net streaming department and made it the technical leader in US radio online. The music biz NEEDS Goldberg to show them how to leverage the Web.
