President visits as his support in N.C. wanes
watch out Charlotte, backdrop boy is coming....

<snip>

A recent poll by Raleigh's conservative Civitas Institute found that 46 percent of N.C. voters approve of the president's job performance, while 42 percent endorse his handling of the war in Iraq.

At a Capitol Hill news conference Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Walter Jones, a conservative Republican from Pitt County, called for a full debate about the war. And in a phone interview, Republican Rep. Howard Coble of Greensboro questioned an Iraq strategy he described as "conspicuously missing or flawed."

Bush could find more skeptics in a CPCC audience organized in part by the Charlotte World Affairs Council, according to Chris Alexander, a council board member and director of Davidson College's Dean Rusk International Studies Program.

"People are, quite frankly, tired of hearing the same old song about `9-11 changed everything,' `We have to be concerned about security and terrorism,' (and) `Wasn't it great that we got rid of Saddam,' " he said. "A lot of people no longer find that argument compelling."

bush doesn't give a fuck about his support in North Carolina. Obviously those people are wrong and should be punished.

8. Correct -- Mainly Western NC (sans Asheville) and Eastern NC
Fayettenam, and some pockets here and there. Alot of NC is quite purple... and some areas are VERY blue.

I just can't believe the Western NCers still support him, even after literally almost all their manufacturing jobs have left the state... but these are the same people who supported Eric Rudolph... hiding and feeding him for years...

9. My super-lefty father in-law is active in the NC Democratic party.
They have their frustrations, but have their victories too.

This is one of those massive job loss states that Should have gone blue in 2004, but didn't because "we're at war".
