CAPITOL HILL The Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee accuses Attorney General Alberto Gonzales of "stonewalling."
Gonzales has been refusing to answer questions about the Bush administration's program of domestic spying without warrants.
Congressman James Sensenbrenner told Gonzales he's blocking the Judiciary Committee from overseeing the Justice Department. Sensenbrenner asked Gonzales at the start of a hearing how the panel can fulfill its duties if every "pointed question" is met with a claim that "the program is classified."

In response to a question from Democrat John Conyers, Gonzales declared, "I do not think we are thumbing our nose at the Congress or the courts."
