Injured anchor Bob Woodruff sends message to co-workers

April 6, 2006 - Bob Woodruff wanted to deliver the news to his colleagues himself: He's moving on to outpatient care for injuries he suffered in Iraq and enjoying family life, the ABC anchorman said in a written message.

"Though I know there is still a long road ahead, it's nice to be feeling more like myself again -- laughing with family, reading bedtime stories and reminding my kids to do their homework," Woodruff wrote in a note released Thursday by ABC.

Woodruff's message was relayed by e-mail to co-workers by ABC News President David Westin, who said he was delighted to report on Woodruff's continuing progress.

"Because he's come so far, he'll be spending more of his time at home as well as continuing his treatment in facilities here in the New York area," Westin said in Thursday's e-mail.

1. But I thought they only reported from hotel balconies!
Someone should send a copy of that note to Laura Ingraham.

3. Not if his face was disfigured
The "news" biddness is for pretty faces these days.. a "war-wounded" face would be sending the "wrong" message.:sarcasm:

5. Olberman had a recently released picture of Woodruf. Happy to say...
he looks very good on the outside. No telling what happened to him internally.

The man has been through a terrible injury. I can not imagine the horror of our young soldiers who face the same injuries. They don't make millions of dollars a year...they are at the mercy of the V.A. Hospital system.

4. I noticed they completely stopped referring to him as the evening anchor.
When they compared Katie Couric (puke) to Brian Williams and Elizabeth Vargas.......zero mention of Bob.

Here's to wishing him well. I hope that he and his family are able to recover.
