Henry County GOP chief weighs in
Despite calls from state and county party leaders to step down, Henry County Commissioner Steven Baden remains in office as he awaits trial next month for allegedly stalking a 14-year-old girl.
David Grahn, chairman of the Henry County Republican Party, joined a state party leader yesterday in asking for Mr. Baden's resignation from the elected office he has held since 2003.
Mr. Grahn said a discussion he had within the last week with the commissioner involved "at minimum taking a leave of absence from the office until the case is disposed of in a court of law."

Richard Hasbrook, one of Mr. Baden's lawyers, said the request from Mr. Grahn wasn't totally unexpected in light of the action taken by Mr. Bennett. He again reiterated that his client wouldn't step down.
"Mr. Baden stands on his earlier statement," Mr. Hasbrook said, referring to a written response he made to Mr. Bennett's request.
