AFP employee kidnapped in Baghdad

AN Iraqi employee of Agence France-Presse (AFP), accountant Salah Jali al-Gharrawi, was kidnapped on April 4 in central Baghdad and the agency has no news of his fate.

Police said Mr Gharrawi, 48, was snatched after he left the company's Baghdad offices last Tuesday by gunmen in two cars, including a four-wheel-drive.
He was forced to abandon his moped near the office and was driven off in one of the cars, fitted with tinted windows but no number plates.

Despite intensive efforts, AFP has not received any claim of responsibility nor demands and it has no information on Mr Gharrawi's condition or the identity of the abductors.
