Bush: Iran Strike Plans 'Wild Speculation'
-------------
By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer
9 minutes ago
-------------
President Bush said Monday that force is not necessarily required to stop Iran from having a nuclear weapon, and he dismissed reports of plans for a military attack against Tehran as "wild speculation."

Bush said his goal is to keep the Iranians from having the capability or the knowledge to have a nuclear weapon.

"I know we're here in Washington ... (where) prevention means force," Bush said. "It doesn't mean force necessarily. In this case it means diplomacy."

Bush, speaking Monday at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, and other administration officials have said repeatedly that the military option is on the table.

8. Uh oh
Last time I recall his using those words, he meant it literally--not that such are not in existence but rather that they are not physically "on his desk."

Watch out.:scared:

11. I believe him
the plans aren't on his desk. They're in the red drawer marked "top secret stuff". The drawer that Uncle Dick told him never to open. :sarcasm:

6. Rummy, Iran, Mini Nukes
It's not crazy...as we speak the plans are underway to remove the "legal" barriers (the Spratt Ban) to pave the way for the use of mini nukes on the battlefield. More here: http://www.ucsusa.org/global_security/nuclear_weapons/the-sprattfurse-law-on-mininuke-development.html

7. He didn't dismiss it. Now more than ever, I am convinced it's coming.
It doesn't mean force "necessarily." The phrase "wild speculation" doesn't mean it's wrong. I believe at this point that we are going to attack Iran with nuclear weapons ("bunker busters"), and that Bush now considers himself a Messianic figure. We are in terrible trouble. I can't believe it keeps getting worse, but it does. Rapidly.

9. Notice the words. Read carefully. the statement reads -
"...dismissed reports of plans for a military attack against Tehran as "wild speculation."

Tehran. There have never been rumors that Tehran was going to get bombed. There have been rumors that Iran was going to get bombed.

The area that is speculated on is in southern Iran - close to Iraq?

So if George tells us that attacking Tehran is wild speculation, he's telling the truth. He DID NOT DENY - DENY - that there were plans to bomb IRAN.

IRAN - country
TEHRAN - city (capital).

So you have been bs'ed.

*Co has about the same track record as the Soviets. 1. There is no truth to the rumour... 2.Sources close to... 3. In an open statement... e.g. 1. If there was a leak, I wanna know about it. 2. Leakers will not remain in my administration. 3. It wasn't a leak because it was declassified.

Same shit different page.

16. If there is any "wild speculation"
Bush himself is behind it. Notice, he can't even DENY the rumours without CONTINUING them.

"Force is not NECESSARILY required to stop Iran"

"(where) prevention means FORCE"

It doesn't mean force NECESSARILY"

Bush is the one who is perpetrating this stuff.

18. Yep and war is a last resort in Iraq
and the Iran nuclear option is wild speculation. Are we in for a WHIranG come this summer, "We don't want a mushroom cloud being the smoking gun" type of autumn. You won't pull it off because you don't have any more Valerie Plames on this one. Let me guess it will be the Venezuelan embassy that gets broken into this time, or maybe the North Korean. We know they had nothing to do with 9/11 because that was Iraq, not Iran, you spent the last 3 years selling that to the public. I think Karl has played all of his aces and the extra one he keeps up his sleeve too.

Sorry George, you needed to start with Iran while you had a 90% approval rating and most people agreed with the Iraq invasion. The public is watching you now and they do not trust you.

21. He mouthed similar LIES during the runup to his last war.
NOW we have proof of his lying on that one.

Why, oh why, can't some RESPONSIBLE journalist ask: "But you've been proven to have lied about just the same type of questions during YOUR runup to YOUR last ILLEGAL war - why should we believe anything you say NOW?!"

Instead they all dutifully report it, okie dokie, as if this ONE new instance lacked any historical context at all.

I sure hope they ask him if hes got "anything on his desk", too!

22. 2001-- Wild speculation that we would bomb Iraq

Powell denies Iraq in U.S. sights

December 5, 2001 Posted: 7:01 AM EST (1201 GMT)

ANKARA, Turkey (CNN) -- The U.S. has reassured Turkey that no decision has been made about widening the war against terror to include Iraq.

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell told Turkish leaders on Wednesday that recommendations for the future direction of any military campaign in the anti-terrorist drive had not yet been presented to President George W. Bush.

She has definitely become the voice of the White Hosue inside AP.

Am I the only one who rememeber her nasty, vicious comments against Kerry, Howard Dean, and the Democrats inside every article she ever wrote?

26. We have continuously updated war plans for every country on earth.
When I lived in DC, a friend of mine racked up too many flight hours in the USAF and they parked him in a "vault" in the Pentagon where he worked every day updating war plans for every country on earth. He did this until he retired a few years ago.

The only question is when do they get sent up the chain for approval and action.
