(Wal-Mart) Comcast to Provide Broadband, Video and Phone Services...
Comcast to Provide Broadband, Video and Phone Services to World's Largest Retailer

Comcast products and services to enhance home-entertainment offering in Wal-Mart 'Connection Centers'

PHILADELPHIA, April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast today announced it will provide millions of Wal-Mart customers with access to broadband, digital video, and voice services. Comcast's triple-play of services are the newest subscription services offered in Wal-Mart "Connection Centers," launching in approximately 500 Wal-Mart locations across Comcast's national footprint.

Comcast broadband and digital video services will be available in Wal-Mart stores this Spring. Wal-Mart "Connection Centers" offer consumers a vast range of service-based home-entertainment products, including: video, phone, high-speed Internet, wireless, and audio services.

"Comcast and Wal-Mart share a commitment for offering customers the best products and services for the best value. Our partnership with Wal-Mart further supports our continuing efforts to develop new ways to offer Comcast services to consumers at a time and place that's convenient for them. More than 140 million consumers visit a Wal-Mart store every week," said Bob Faught, senior vice president of retail sales for Comcast.

This announcement marks the latest in a series of Comcast agreements with premium retailers. Comcast has successfully offered its services through retail partners since 1999 and continues to aggressively support these retail efforts.

1. Wal-Mart is now a "premium retailer?"

I'll have to remember them the next time I'm in the market for Louis Vitton!

2. Why am I not surprised?
Mall-Wart and ComCrap are both awful.

Comcast has been jacking up our monthly cable bill on a steady basis for years, while reducing services. They took away Weather Radar and made it part of an expensive package.

And they refuse to broadcast Washington Nationals games in the DC area.

4. Concass shows thousands of commercials every day in this market.
Sometimes there are two Concass commercials in a row.

They jacked up rates to pay for their stupid commercials.

They really do suck.

5. I'm an existing Comcast customer too.
I called them last week about a package deal I saw - three products for $33 each for a year. I'm not eligible - it's only for NEW customers.

I'm ready to drop my cable and go to satellite, even though it would cost me more and it's not as reliable around here. My boss mentioned that any time the wind blows (which is a lot), he loses reception.

But, I'm tired of being screwed by Comcast. I only want my high speed Internet.

6. Won't happen in MY town.
We just got that wonderful new de-regulation bill that the rest of the world supposedly "looks up" to Indiana over (who pays for those ads? you GOT your give-away, now STFU!)

Which means the only "changes" we'll see in our sleepy little bedroom town of 900 homes is the churn of stuff that used to be in the cheaper packages into new "Premium Package Tiers".

And while Con-Cast tells us that The Dish has raisd their prices 5 times in the last 5 years, they just went up another $3 a month themselves.
