McCain to stump for Blackwell in Cleveland
Some see the duo as a potential national ticket in 2008

By JIM TANKERSLEY
BLADE POLITICS WRITER

Sen. John McCain brings his pre-official presidential campaign to Cleveland today to support gubernatorial hopeful Kenneth Blackwell, and forward-looking Republicans should snap a mental picture: They might be looking at their next national ticket.

Ditto for Democrats who flock to a New York fund-raiser with Sen. Hillary Clinton and Ohio Congressman Ted Strickland next month.

It’s early, yes. But political insiders across the country say electoral math and Ohio’s swing-state status could make the fall governor’s election a “play-in game” of sorts for the 2008 vice presidential tournament.

“Any governor of Ohio is automatically vice presidential or even higher material,” said Frank Donatelli, a Republican consultant in Washington and former political director for President Ronald Reagan, “just because Ohio is so important.”

Good Protest sign: JOHN McCAIN - LAPDOG FOR BUSH...

That pretty much sums up Jon Corzine's strategy against his Repub opponent during the New Jersey governor's race. It gave him both a victory AND a mandate.

5. Why the hell is Ohio so damn important? What does it have to offer?
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 09:38 AM by Roland99
Ky is home to three large automobile manufacturing plants and a sizeable support industry for those plants.

Toyota's North American HQs are in Northern Ky. Yum! brands is HQ'd here. Home of Thoroughbred horse racing/breeding.

What's Ohio have over us besides a few million more people? What makes *any* state more important in terms of a Gov. going to the WH?

Clinton (a two-term President) was from Arkansas, for crying out loud.

12. Speaking as an Ohioan...
>>What does it have to offer?>>

Nothing, really.

The guy was most likely making a reference to the historical fact that Ohio has had more presidents than any other state. Totally irrelevant, of course, unless the question comes up during Trivial Pursuit and you have to name 'em all.

6. well it's official
The image of moderate maverick that liberals can trust is no more. He has sold his soul. McCain has to know who and what Blackwell is and represents. What's he going to do next? Visit Duke Cunningham in jail?

7. That does it, absolutely!

I have never seen anyone sell his sole to the DEVIL like that man.

I think we should take a lot of photos of the occasion and all the kiss up hugs that he has given and do a video clip of them to remind all of us how he really is ` awful!

Cast off your moderate image! Tacitly endorse Blackwell's Ohio election fraud allegations! We won't have to campaign against you by portraying you as a Bush clone--you're freaking doing it FOR us! Stay the course, John--RAH RAH RAH!

But this ticket should be easy for the Dems to smack down, IF they have their own house in order.

16. McCain for Chabot
McCain was in Cincinnati this a.m. at a fund-raiser breakfast for
Steve "Comb Over" Chabot, Ohio CD 1. I hope the coffee was bitter.
McCain truly has sold out completely with this "Kenny Boy" Blackwell
thing in Cleveland. In fact, I don't know of one repuke with a soul.

17. He might as well wear 4 inch heels and red lipstick..
.. for the type of work he's been undertaking lately for the GOP. Hope he's charging them enough per hour. He has zero integrity. He's a fake with a undeserved reputation for being a straight forward guy.

19. LOL!
I had the same image pop into my head when I read this: fishnet stockings, gold lame platforms, and a nice short poly/acrylic knit
wraparound dress.
For the icing on the cake, I think perhaps the WaPo editorial page should write an editorial about the deep scarifice of prostitution for one's party and what a true hero McCain is to the GOP and the nation as he whores his way across the US stumping for worthless, amoral hacks and criminals.

But he's been smart enough to hide it. Now the sheep's wool is coming off. Helen Thomas nailed him. He's angling to become Bush 3 if we let him.
