A Speech on the Economy, for 2006 or 2008?

Mapping out broad economic principles that could form the basis of a presidential campaign, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton argued on Tuesday night that it was time for new thinking about globalization, increased focus on the middle class and a renewed investment in energy research, education and health care.

Mrs. Clinton did not, in her 57-minute speech to the Economic Club of Chicago, assail President Bush by name. Indeed, Mrs. Clinton repeatedly emphasized her conservative credentials and alliances, and she blamed the sharp partisan fighting in Washington for dissuading business leaders from working with government.

But in a series of observations about the current economic climate — that wages have stagnated while profits have soared; that deficits are threatening future innovation; that health care costs have become burdensome for the middle class — Mrs. Clinton made the case that the country's economy had suffered in recent years under Mr. Bush's leadership.

The speech bore all the hallmarks of an opening salvo in the 2008 race, and as such, quickly drew rebukes from senior Republicans who have come to view her as the inevitable presidential front-runner.

3. Or Pro-job offshorers.
I couldn't believe it when I read this . . . or maybe I could. Except she's so short sighted . . . she doesn't get that offshoring is ALWAYS going to be zero-sum because it doesn't even take into account the fate of the middle class it destroys because the people implementing this practice DO NOT CARE. Her corporate buddies couldn't care less about the powerless wage slaves.

4. People in favor of offshoring
Anyone who's in favor of offshoring jobs is a traitor to America.
