Irish College To Welcome Sheen.
Here's news about a man with intellectual curiosity. By contast, can one imagine Bush deciding at age 65 to devote time to the serious study of literature, philosophy, theology or oceanography? Me either. It will be golf every day, with hours spent w/ his buddy Jack Daniels at the 19th hole, telling stories about his "good old days". "Yeah, Brownie, I did a heckuva job. The only thing more fun than laughing at Texans gettin the death penalty (OOOOOOOOhhhhhhhh, please don't kill me, Mr. Governor!) was letting all those poor, not-in-my-base Democrats drown in New Orleans and startin wars to kill lotsa Muslims and make a fortune at the same time."

Irish college 'to welcome' Sheen (headline)

Sheen says he wants to finish his education after retiring (Sub headline)

An Irish university has said it was "looking forward to welcoming" Hollywood actor Martin Sheen as a student next autumn. The West Wing star plans to study English literature, philosophy and theology with special interest in oceanography in Galway. A spokeswoman for the National University of Ireland said: "We are developing that interest with him." Sheen has said he wanted to finish his education after he retires from acting.

The university is home to the Huston School of film and digital media here, of which Angelica Huston is a patron. Sheen, who is 65, said he had been awarded several degrees, but had received no "proper education" since starting acting.

He has played President Josiah Bartlet in The West Wing since 1999. His big screen roles have included Apocalypse Now and Gandhi.

2. One of my kids got an economics degree at UCDublin.
When she went for an MBA in the states, she was way ahead of her classmates, especially in statistics.

3. Read about the National University of Ireland--Galway....
Tá áit faoi leith ag an nGaeilge i saol Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh. Sa chéad dul síos, tá dualgas reachtúil ar an Ollscoil faoin Acht a ritheadh sa bhlian 1929, daoine a cheapadh ar an bhfoireann atá in ann dualgais a bpost a chomhlíonadh trí Ghaeilge, ach na daoine a ceaptar a bheith láncháilithe ar gach uile bhealach eile do na poist sin.

I'm joking! They certainly offer Irish studies but English is the main language....

John Huston spent happy years at St Clerans--a manor house 20 miles east of Galway City. Thus, the Huston School of Film. (St Clerans was renovated by Merv Griffin & is available for rent--or as a hotel when not rented.)
