Many killed' in Baghdad car bomb

Police in Iraq tell the BBC a car bomb has exploded in a market in a mainly Shia district of northern Baghdad. At least 13 people are reported killed.

Earlier the US military in Iraq said a US soldier had been killed by a roadside bomb south-west of Baghdad, also on Thursday.

A day earlier, three US soldiers were killed in similar bombings, it said. A police spokesman said government employees had been targeted in several attacks in the capital.

7. I can't imagine what it must be like for parents to see two servicemembers

carrying a folded flag walk up their driveway (or however it is done). They know what they are there for when they open the door.
