'Catch Immigrant' Game Raises Outcry at Penn State
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06104/682184-84.stm

<snip>
Amid the student outcry that ensued, they softened their plan to an illegal immigration awareness day in which leafleting and speech-making would let both sides air their views on immigration policies.

But that hasn't entirely erased the bad feeling over the campus event, now planned for Wednesday.

Yesterday, about 150 students and some faculty opposed to the idea rallied in the student union building. And the university itself joined the fray, urging the College Republicans to "re-think their approach as a step toward fostering civility on campus."

Penn State President Graham Spanier labeled the original idea "unproductive and offensive."

2. PSU Young Gop also planning to set off a confetti "bomb" on campus
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 04:06 PM by Divernan
but have at least postponed that hairbrain idea. No link to that news cause I just heard it today from the parent of a Penn State student. The student considers himself a Republican but thinks the Young GOP group is way too extreme. If they should be so foolish as to set off an explosive device which would scatter confetti, it would technically be a bomb, and their lilly white GOP young asses could end up in Guantamo w/ no notice to any friends or family, no legal representation, etc. I doubt that the Bush DHS would enforce the Patriot Act against young republicans, regardless of how stupid they are, but I could see Penn State kicking them out.

3. What a coincidence.
Penn State President Graham Spanier labeled the original idea "unproductive and offensive."

That's exactly how I label the current Republican Congress. Must be a Republican thing.
